Eric Scott Maloney

Eric Scott Maloney, 38 years old, passed away on Saturday, April 25th, 2020, in Salt Lake City. He was born August, 8th, 1981 in Bakersfield, California to Jeff and Cathy Maloney. Eric lived in Bakersfield-California, Fresno-California, Western Samoa, Thompson Falls-Montana, Jamaica, Ensenada-Mexico, Long Beach-California, Imperial Beach-California, and Salt Lake City-Utah. To say that Eric was a unique spirit, would be an understatement. We’re not saying that he didn’t have his share challenges, he did, but we choose to share his truly unique nature, because he was really someone, that could amaze you. The ancient greeks would sometimes measure how successful someone’s life was, by how much passion they had in their life. Using passion, as a measuring stick, Eric was very successful. Eric was always searching for his purpose in life, for him to be fulfilled. His intellect was impressive. His search showed great passion. From the time Eric was born, his curiosity and passion to create, and his hunger for knowledge, always drove him to find answers, or express himself. He loved both geology and astronomy. His creativity started at a young age, creating paper machete animals, to creating water fountains, anything in wood-making, especially his own 2-story tree house, he started his own business, loved riding his motorcycle, recreated the Tesla perpetual motion model, and lastly, the love of his life, playing the guitar and ukulele, and writing his own songs, and lyrics. He had an Associates Degree, Honor Society. His work experience started at 13 years old and included newspaper carrier for the Fresno, Bee, Sweet Tomatoes, Food for Less, IHOP, Pizza Hut, Garden Gate, Target, self employed “Clearly Cuckoo”. His hobbies were Gymnastics, Sponsored in Inline skating competition, creating anything like: cuckoo clocks, water fountains, all sorts of wood making projects, like tree houses, and loved to play games like dominoes, card games, trampolining, ping pong, kayaking and fishing, enjoyed hiking, running, riding his motorcycle, cooking, working out and the love of his life playing guitar and ukulele, and writing his own songs and lyrics. His travels took him to several different cities in California, Western Samoa, Montana, Jamaica, Ensenada-Mexico, and Salt Lake City-Utah. Eric is survived by his parents, Jeff and Cathy Maloney, brother Johnathan Maloney, nephew, Nathan Maloney, and niece, Whitney Maloney. Preceded in death by his grandparents Leonard and Marge Maloney, and Jack and Ina Jones. Funeral service was Tuesday, May 4th, 2020, at 1:00pm. Eric was constantly on a journey, to find real friends, and like-minded individuals, and thank God, he found them.
