Jeffrey Paul Carter

Jeffery Paul Carter returned to his Heavenly Father on January 24th, 2023 at age 69 after a battle with chronic kidney disease and defying all odds the last few years. He was born August 11th 1953 to Richard LeRoy (Roy) Carter and Norma Johnson Carter in Salt Lake City, Utah. He graduated from Granite High School in 1971 where he played baseball and basketball. He received a full ride pitching scholarship to Southern Utah University. Then he played for a semi-pro baseball team in California for a short time. While attending Southern Utah University he met his first wife Annette Woolstenhulme, although this relationship did not last, they did have 5 girls and 1 boy together whom they loved. In 1996 he met and married Myrtle “Candy” Carter. He gained several bonus children, and they spent several happy years together until Candy lost her battle with cancer on June 9th, 2004. In his early years he loved working for the Rio Grand Railroad, which his father had also previously worked for. He went on to be an entrepreneur and started several businesses. Some of which include, landscaping/sprinkler business, entertainment business, auto repair/tire shop, chimney caps and selling modular homes. He lived for watching sports. To name a few of the teams that he avidly cheered for were the Utah Jazz, Pittsburgh Steelers, and the New York Yankees. However, if you knew him, he watched every pro and college sports game he possibly could. He also loved music and would often sing Neil Diamond, Tim McGraw and Garth Brooks to whoever would listen. He was a fan of movies, and he would always ask if you thought he looked like Sean Connery. Some of his favorite things to do were getting together with friends and family to grill up his dads famous dagwood burgers with corn on the cob topped his special corn sauce. Going duck hunting with his dad and friends. Boating on Lake Powell with the kids and family on the Space Cowboy. He also enjoyed his love of animals, he had a horse named Clyde the Glide and Skippy the dog that were a special part of his life. He is survived by his daughters Khrisha (Brooke) Carter, Kimberly Carter, Tiffany Cummings and Cassandra Carter. Granddaughters Breanna, Brynleigh, Irelynne and Zayleigh. Grandsons Chaise (Kenzie) Wachter, Trenton, Kaiden, Traigen, Troy and Cameron. Great-Grandson Braxton. Nieces Mindy (Steffan) Gibbons, Lindsay (Bryan) Sharp and Meaghan Carter, Nephews Christian Gibbons, Zach (Alex) Egan Popelka and Travis (Nancy) Whittaker, Step-Sons Rick Unopulos and Jim Purper. Step-daughters Tammy Unopulos, Sabrillya (Jason) Cowan and Julia (Randy) Elliot. Preceded in death by Wife Candy Carter, Father Richard LeRoy Carter, Mother Norma Johnson Carter, Sister Nancy Carter Fisher, Brother Richard Carter, Daughter Candice Leigh Carter, Son Jefferey Roy Carter, Niece Allison Egan and Step-Sons Randy Unopulos and Mike Purper. We want to give a special Thank you to Abby, Joe and everyone at Yarrow Hospice for taking such good care of Jeff the last few years. To the staff of Bel Aire Senior Living, you guys have been a blessing and Ludean Bishop for always making sure he had his Mountain Dew, pies, ice cream, goodies, and essentials. Jeff was known as the life of the party, he could turn anyone into his best friend and would give you the shirt off his back if he could. It’s time to celebrate Jeff’s life with a little love on the Rocks!! A viewing/service with be held January 31st 2023 from 12 pm – 1pm at Serenity Funeral Home, 13863 S 2700 W, Bluffdale,UT, followed by a graveside service at Murray cemetery at 1:30pm.
