Jneil Andersen Madsen

Jneil Andersen Madsen passed away peacefully from age-related illness, surrounded by her family on February 24, 2014. Jneil was born in Brigham City, Utah on June 23, 1923 to Joseph Lester Andersen and Olivia Forsgren Andersen. On February 19, 1941 she married her sweetheart, Carl David Madsen in the LDS Logan Utah temple. She became an excellent flautist, sharing her talent at funerals and church activities. She especially loved participating in the Box Elder Marching Band. She turned down college scholarship offers to support Carl in fulfilling his dreams. After she graduated from Box Elder High School in 1941 they moved to Los Angeles, California where he attended the Otis Art Institute. They eventually moved back to Utah and lived in several locations but settled in Provo, Utah in 1949. They moved to the Edgemont area in 1978 and then to Orem in 2005. She was active in the LDS Church and served faithfully in many positions, including a mission to Hartford, Connecticut with her husband Carl. She served in the Provo Temple for twelve years. She happily served in Relief Society, Young Women, and Primary. In the last months of her life she was concerned for the ladies she visit taught. Her hobbies included quilting, sewing, playing the flute, cooking, reading, and swimming. She and Carl designed many original, award winning quilts together that she painstakingly hand-quilted. She loved her sewing group, “The Sappy Sewers” that met regularly for decades, sharing ideas and enjoying one another’s company. Her pantry was always ready for friends and family to drop in and stay for dinner any time. Her greatest accomplishments were within her home. She is preceded in death by her husband Carl; a daughter, Sue; a son, Paul; her parents; brothers Oleen, Jay, and Roy Andersen. She is survived by children: David (Marilynn) Madsen, Ron (Sharon) Madsen, Jon (Karen) Madsen, Bruce (Shauna) Madsen, Annette Madsen (Don Fennimore), Andy (Tammy) Madsen, Debbie (Ray) Ferguson: siblings: Grant Andersen, Neone Stenquist, LaRee Carter: thirty-five grandchildren; and sixty-one great-grand children. Friends and acquaintances can offer their condolences at a closed-casket gathering from 9:30 to 10:45 am Saturday, March 1, 2014 at the Sharon Park 3rd Ward at 225 East 200 North in Orem, Utah. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am at the same location. Interment will be at East Lawn Memorial. Funeral arrangements by SereniCare. The family wishes to thank Warren and Marcy King for their tender loving care in assisting Jneil and caring for her home. They would also like to thank her loving and helpful friends and neighbors.
