Larry Rulon Nielson

Larry Rulon Nielson, 69 passed away on May 15, 2017 at his home in West Valley City, Utah. He was born November 2, 1947 in National, Utah, to Rulon Julander Nielson (deceased) and Elizabeth (Beth) Lemmon. He married Janice Curtis on December 2, 1965, in Salt Lake City, Utah (later divorced). Married Ida May Gardner Anderson on January 4, 1992, West Valley City, Utah and sealed for Time and all Eternity on January 5, 1993 in the Jordan River Temple. He joined the United State Marine Corp. when he was only 16 years old. When they found out his age, he was close to turning 17, so let him stay in. He served in the Viet Nam conflict. Was honorable discharged on November 2, 1970. He was in sales for Broadway Shoe repair; sold and installed auto glass, house windows and mirrors. He was member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, where he served faithfully in many callings. His last calling was serving as assistant secretary to the High Priest Quorum. Since he was home bound, he loved calling the High Priests on their Birthdays and calling them to remind them of assignments. He loved to go fishing at Big Lake in southern Utah. He loved his children, step children, grandkids, and great grandkids. Survived by his wife, Ida May Nielson. Children; Cindy Swensen, soon to be Mrs. Jerry Kantanavicus (Robert, Tiffany, Hayley & four 1/2 great grandkids), Scott & Marsha (Alex, Sara, Emma, Anna, and Maddison) Nielson, Mike & Kelly (Hayden & Jared) Nielson. Step Children; Brad & Connie, (Jacob, McKenzie, Brieanna, Kristian, & Anton) Anderson, Adrian & Jenni (Sophia, Ben, Nina & Clara) Anderson, Fran & Dave (Augusta) Morrow & Krystal Bartlett. Mother, Beth Nielson. Siblings, Jenavie Ricksecker, Jerald (Sandra) Nielson, Dorothy Hardin (Jim Lindsay), Maxine (Ward) Nielson. Many nieces and nephews. Ida May’s siblings, Earline Lish, Janette (Wes) Andrews. Lucille (LeGrande) Andreasen, Carla (Richard) Baird, Julie (Richard) Drollinger, Marilyn (Jay) Jackman, Winona Catmull, Mike (Alisa) Gardner, Kristy (Bob) Combs, Marshall (Kathy) Gardner, Lorin (Jolene) Gardner. Services will be held on May 22, 2017 at S. L. Jordan 1st Ward, 3920 West 4145 South, West Valley City, Utah. Viewing at 8:30 to 9:30 am. Families farewells following viewing. Program at 10:00 to 11:00 am. Leave to travel to graveside services at Utah Veterans Cemetery & Memorial Park, 17111 South Camp Williams Road, Bluffdale UT. B3 section.
