Loretta Sue Wood

Loretta Sue Wood peacefully returned home on March 8, 2024. Born September 3,1944 to John and Erma Bernice Bernard. Later raised by Walter George and Erma Bernice Petty. Sue was an amazing mother, grandmother, and great grandmother (Nana) who loved unconditionally and through example, taught many how to be gentle and kind. Her home of over 50 years was a safe place with an open-door policy where anyone could “come on” in and visit, maybe stay awhile, or just grab a soda or a snack. Sue worked hard to support her family and retired from L-3 Communications after a 30 career. For many years, she served her community through multiple affiliations, PTA, and sports organizations. She was an excellent fund raiser once raising enough money to purchase new uniforms for both the Kennedy Jr. High school boys’ and girls’ basketball teams. Sue was an ardent supporter of her children and grandchildren and never missed an opportunity to attend whatever game, match, recital, or event. She had a deep love for the game of baseball and for many years, she served positions with both the Western Hills WBBA and Kearns Babe Ruth League. As her family grew, she expanded her love of many other events to now include; football, hockey, rodeo, ballet, JROTC, debate, gymnastics, soccer, basketball, theater, music, ComiCon, Star Wars, movies, camping, extreme holiday decorations or whatever else her family was involved in. She never missed an event and was everyone’s “biggest fan”. Sue served her lord and served the LDS church where she held callings within the primary and young women’s and cub scouts. Sue had an amazing talent and could create things with her hands, she was creative and was gifted at arts and crafts and sewing. Sue loved making things for her friends and family. Whether it was a knitted washcloth, a special costume, or a blanket that provided one of her grandchildren warmth and security, it was always created with love and was certain to create a smile or help brighten a day. Our mother, aunt, sister, grandmother, cousin, and friend will be missed but, her legacy will live through everyone touched during her amazing journey! Survived by; 3 children; Jeffrey, Joseph and Jennifer 2 sisters; Pamela and Peggy. 13 Grandchildren, 6 Great Grandchildren and multiple nieces and nephews. Sue was preceded in death by: Erma Petty - Mother John Bernard – Father Walter Petty – Stepfather Todd Yeates - Nephew Jenifer Wood - Daughter in Law
