Neal A Jeppesen

Neal Anton Jeppesen passed away peacefully on December 7th, 2014 at Cassia Regional Medical Center. Neal was born to Carl and Hilda Jeppesen on March 11th, 1941 in Grace, Idaho. He graduated from Oakley High School in 1959, and married Phyllis Stapley, his high school sweetheart, on January 17th, 1964. They were later sealed for time and all eternity in the Idaho Falls Temple. They were blessed with three children, Tony, Kimberly, and Gary. He worked for 34 years for Handy Truck Lines, and enjoyed sharing the things he saw when he traveled with his family. Anyone who knows Neal knows he strived always to be in the service of his fellow man, but he never did it for the pat on the back. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served faithfully in whichever calling he was given. He was a member of the Cassia County School Board and made many friends there in his 24 years of service. He was a Master Gardener, and fed many with the delicious fruits of his labor. Scouting was a huge part of his life for 55 years. He was a scout master for 40 years, and affected the lives of hundreds of young men. He was always eager to teach them to tie a new knot or another campfire song, and we went on at least 15 50-mile hikes (add 'em up!). He earned the Silver Beaver Award and received special recognition for his 55 years of service. He and his wife became close friends with an amazing group of people. Their closest friendships began during all the time spent washing dishes and cleaning up after ward parties in the Burley 2nd Ward. Their friendship continued during many dinner parties, especially on New Year's Eve, and camping trips to Lake Powell and Redfish Lake. They are all a special group of people, and these friendships will surely last into the eternities. Neal was quick on his feet, and always kept everyone laughing with his witty one-liners. Neal loves his family dearly and loved exploring his family history. He has always been proud of his Danish heritage as well as the many other ancestors who came before him and made it possible for him to have everything as he did as an American. Neal was preceded in death by his eternal companion, Phyllis Jeppesen, his siblings, Theo Jeppesen, Anna Cellan, and Donna Jorgensen, and his son, Gary Jeppesen. He is survived by his children, Tony (Melody) Jeppesen of Declo, Kimberly Koepnick of Burley, his siblings, Jerrol (Verna) Jeppesen of Green River, Wyoming, Karlene (Pete) Baker of Declo, and Gail (Norma) Jeppesen of Heyburn, ten grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. A viewing will take place at the Burley LDS 2nd Ward at 515 E. 16th Street in Burley from 6-8 pm on Friday, December 12th. There will be a viewing from 10:30-11:30 am on Saturday, December 13th prior to the funeral beginning at 11:30. The graveside service will follow at Pleasantview Cemetery.
