Paul J Middelstadt

Our beloved Paul J Middelstadt earned his Angel wings as he passed away peacefully at home on July 17, 2024 at the age of 75. Paul fought a courageous and valiant battle against pancreatic cancer. Our hearts are heavy and weary as we mourn his loss, but we are grateful that he is no longer suffering. Paul was born and raised in Riverton, Utah where he attended Bingham High School and then received his Associates Degree from Salt Lake Community College. He is preceded in death by his parents George and Alberta Middelstadt as well as 4 sisters and 5 brothers. Paul leaves behind his loving wife, Joye K Richards Middelstadt, Daughter Stacy (Scott) Forbes, Son Craig (Laura) Middelstadt, Daughter Kim (Mike) Peterson, as well as 10 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and friend to many. Paul was a man of service and had a huge heart that he shared freely with everyone he knew. He would literally give you the shirt off his back. Paul served our country proudly as a US Army Veteran of the Vietnam War. Paul was grateful to be part of the Utah Honor Flight in 2017 where a select group of Vietnam Veterans were taken to Washington, DC and recognized for their service. Paul was no stranger to hard work, and spent much of his career as a General Contractor building homes, decks, remodels and more. In his later years, he utilized his wealth of knowledge as the “go to” guy at Lowes Home Improvement Store, before he retired. Paul had a passion for painting and shared his talents freely with his family and friends. He painted many beautiful landscapes using oil paints on canvas. He was our own personal “Bob Ross”. Paul was an avid gambler and loved to share the details of all his “big wins”. He also loved to joke around play games with family and friends. Some of his favorites were Farkle and Five Crowns. Many thanks to those who have walked this journey with us in prayer, encouragement, love and support, it means so much to us. A very special note of thanks to the Utah Cancer Center and Solstice Hospice staff who cared for Paul so well… especially Stephen who was clearly hand-picked by God to be with us through the end. His special care for Paul was heaven sent. A Military Honors Funeral Service will be held at the Camp Williams Chapel at 10:00am on Friday, August 16th located at 17111 South Camp Williams Road in Bluffdale, Utah. A Celebration of Life will be held the same day, for close family and friends in Sandy, Utah.
