Ryan Scott Glad

Ryan Scott Glad, 43, passed away on July 28, 2023, on Topaz Mountain, Juab County, Utah. He was born August 11, 1979, in Murray, Utah to Robert and Diane Glad. He married Rachel Pardew, daughter of Les and Kim Pardew, in the Mount Timpanogos Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on July 19, 2001. Ryan spent his young childhood growing up in West Jordan. Once he became accustomed to elementary school, his family moved to Sandy City where he grew to adulthood. Being the oldest of three brothers, exploring and adventure were a way of life. Ryan grew up loving the outdoors and hiking. He enjoyed the Boy Scout program and achieved the rank of Eagle. After graduation from Alta High School, he attended Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho for one year and then traveled to Mexico to serve a full-time proselyting mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. While living in Mexico, he gained a love and appreciation for people and cultures. Upon returning to college he met his wife-to-be, Rachel. After courting for a year Ryan and Rachel were married. After graduating college with an associate's degree in manufacturing engineering, Ryan started working in the family business machine shop with his father and brother. After a few years of marriage, Ryan and Rachel started welcoming children into their family circle. Courtney, Nathan, and Jason added a new sense of adventure. Ryan and Rachel’s lives were turned upside down and greatly enriched at the same time with the addition of Nathan into their family. Learning about and also teaching others about Nathan’s condition, Osteogenesis Imperfecta, became a life-changing experience. The small family grew up together and became very involved in charitable work among special needs children’s charities. Ryan lived a very full life without regrets. He always lived in the moment and enjoyed his family time at every stage. Always one to enjoy the journey of life, his view on life could be described as follows: As one adventure ends, another begins. Survived by: His wife Rachel Glad, parents Robert and Diane Glad, children Courtney, Nathan, and Jason Glad, brothers Alan (Jae) Glad, Kelly (Maren) Glad, and other nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
