Virginia Willey Lundberg

Virginia Willey Lundberg, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, 96, passed away at her home in Springville, Utah on August 2, 2013. Virginia was born July 29, 1917 in Bountiful, Utah, the daughter of Norton Ray and Tillie Brown Willey. She grew up in Bountiful with her two older brothers Allen and Raymon. Virginia graduated from Davis High School in 1935, a proud Davis Dart! She worked for the Bell Telephone Company as a switchboard operator during which time she met her future husband Chick (Charles O’Malley); they were married April 26, 1941 in the house where she was born. The marriage was later solemnized in the Cardston Alberta Temple. Soon after marriage Mom became an army wife and moved across the country with Dad to Fort Lee in Virginia. Mom moved back to Utah with their two children and awaited Dad’s return from the Philippines after World War II. They then moved to Hardin, Montana to pursue a family business opportunity. While living in Hardin and raising six children (being the best mom ever!), Virginia was active in Hobby Club, Bridge Club, P.E.O. (proud to have received her 50 -year pin) and an avid BYU fan. Dad indulged Mom’s passion for BYU sports by driving her to Sarpy Hill or Radio Hill to get KSL radio reception. Mom was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and devoted countless hours of service in many church callings; she treasured her LDS pioneer heritage. After living in Hardin for 46 years, Mom and Dad retired to Springville, Utah and began a second phase of life. Mom worked in her son-in-law’s medical practice office, loving every moment. Many strong and lasting friendships were developed in both Hardin and Springville. Mom’s enduring love will always be cherished by her children and grandchildren: Chuck (Ellen), Ashburn VA; Ann (Patrick) Kronmiller, Springville UT; Ginny (Dennis) Lind, Missoula MT; Jeri (Al) Merkley, Orem UT; John (Susie), Glendale AZ; and Jay (Joy), Hardin Mt; grandchildren: Janna, Erika, Kate, Peter, Carrie, Liz, Emily, McKay, Micah, Arryn, Paige, Brady, Kyler, Anika, Kalli, Libby, Jordan, Kiley, Kelsey, Tanner, Tasha, Byron, Brendon, Clayton, Rissa, Brett, Sven, Brianna, Dane, Bjorn, Alexandra, Torrin, Cortney, Todd, Jayson, Taylor; great-grandchildren: Otto, Harrison, Truman, O’Malley, Braedon, Murren, Wyatt, McKahl, Sydney, Cameron, Cade, Ryen, Soren, Maddie, Britain, Brynn, Caleb, Nolan, Bridger, Gretel, Patrick, Eliza, Tate, Chloe, Emma, Claire, Kyle, Alia, Emmett, Ellie, Fiona, Caitryn, Steele, Emery, Mayer, Hunter, Addison, Tor,Tryg, Jaden, Krew, Navey, Christian, Parker, Dieter, Beckham, Liberty, Soren, Mila, Nova, Monroe, Vander, Quinn, Gracy, and Link. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2013 at 12 noon with a viewing that same morning from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the LDS Meetinghouse, 450 South Canyon Road, Springville, Utah. Interment is in the Evergreen Cemetery in Springville, Utah.
