Acell William Bown

Funeral Service Link: https://zoom.us/j/93693378756 Acell William Bown passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2026 in Santaquin Utah. He was eighty-nine years old. Acell was born October 30, 1936, the sixth of seven children born to Emma Amelia Peck and John Martin Bown in Provo. As the son of a piano teacher, he was playing, writing, and performing music on the piano from the time he was three years old. As a youth, he also taught himself to play softball, and he went on to pitch a no-hitter game. He graduated from Orem High school in 1954, and after a few years in the army, served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Western Canada mission. After returning home, he served in the US Air Force and then studied at BYU, where he met his sweetheart, Anne Marie Sorenson. They were married in 1967, and went on to have eight children. They built a home in Payson, where they lived for many years. He was a man of many talents and interests: he was most recently the owner of an artisan jewelry business, but he was also a stonemason, a builder, a softball pitcher, a master musician, a gardener, an amateur magician and magic trick designer, a Saint Bernard breeder, a piano tuner, a tabletop game designer, an expert picture hanger, and a talented whistler. Acell was a faithful disciple of Jesus Christ all his life, blessing those around him through the priesthood and his wisdom and love and enthusiasm. He held and magnified many callings and offices within the church including branch president, councilor in a bishopric, high councilor, music director, scoutmaster, and many more. He also served in the temple for many years, working with new grooms, which brought him great joy. He and his wife were also able to serve two missions together in their later years, one to Sri Lanka and Malaysia and the other to the Philippines. He is preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Norma and Ann, his brothers Jay, John, Clyde, and Bruce, and one daughter, Gaea Louise. He is survived by his loving wife, seven children, twenty-two grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 21, 12:00 p.m., with a viewing at 10:30 a.m. 2162 East Canyon Road, Spanish Fork, Utah, 84660. The services will also be available to watch via Zoom.
