Beatriz "Betty" M Lamma

Beatriz "Betty" M. Lamma, 80, of Salt Lake City, Utah, passed away on December 22, 2023. She was born on January 19, 1943, in Santa Rosa (Guillermo Prieto), Veracruz, Mexico, to the late Santiago Hernandez and Gloria Gonzalez. Betty was a strong, hard-working, and spiritual individual who lived life to the fullest. She was known for her adventurous spirit, her ability to make others laugh, and her faithfulness to God and the sacred covenants that she made with Him. Early in her life, Betty had a fulfilling career as a nurse and secretary at Teléfonos de México and PEMEX. In her free time, Betty enjoyed walking, researching her family history, and worshiping in the holy temple. She found solace and joy in these hobbies, which allowed her to connect with her roots and perform sacred ordinances to seal her family line, past, present, and future together for eternity. Betty was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for which she served as a full-time missionary as a young woman. Her membership in the Church, her faith in God, and her family relationships were the sources from which she derived all the meaning and purpose in her life. She understood where true happiness is to be found in this life, and she had full confidence in receiving eternal glory in the next through the Atonement of her Savior, Jesus Christ. Betty is survived by her loving husband, David Lamma, her devoted children, Gloria Rivera and Daniel Rivera, her cherished sister, Victoria Stanger, her beloved brother, Francisco Javier Hernandez, and her adored grandchildren, Lucelly Atwater, Enrique Nuñez, Oscar David Leon, Dayna Lopez, Diana Lopez, Daniel Rivera, Azul Rivera, Celeste Rivera, and Gloria Beatriz Rivera. She was preceded in death by her father, Santiago Hernandez, her mother, Gloria Gonzalez, her daughter, Beatriz Nash, and her sister, Guillermina Cook. A viewing will be held from 9:00 am to 10:45 am, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am on Friday, December 29 at 110 East Social Hall Avenue, Salt Lake City, Utah. The funeral arrangements are being handled by Serenity Funeral Home in Bluffdale, Utah. Betty will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her memory will forever remain in our hearts, and her legacy of strength, love, and laughter will continue to inspire us.
