Brenda Joy Jensen Edvalson May 12, 1941-February 5, 2023 With broken hearts we say goodbye, for now, to our sweet angel mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Brenda Edvalson passed away early Sunday morning, surrounded by her family. She will be greatly missed by family and friends. She was born May 12, 1941 to Elmo Ernest Jensen and Betty Marcene Arrowsmith in Salina, Utah. She was a proud 1959 graduate of Ben Lomond High School and attended Weber State College on a music scholarship for her talent with the clarinet. At a Weber College Institute dance, she was swept off her feet by a charming gentleman who would become her eternal companion. In July of 1960, she married Ronald Edvalson in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. After spending time in the Los Angeles area, they moved to Kaysville in 1969 and made their home there. The Kaysville LDS 10th Ward was dear to her heart for 54 years. Once her children were all in school, she began a career in food service with the Davis County School District until she retired in 1993. Brenda always joked she was a ‘Jack of all trades but master of none’. Those who knew her reject that notion because her creativity and mastered talents were abundant. She learned to play the piano from her grandmother and enjoyed filling her home with beautiful music. She was the doctor of beloved dolls, restoring them to their original beauty. She was the creator of beautiful wedding cakes for many in the neighborhood. She taught many young people to crochet and sew. She created a Victorian dollhouse with beautiful miniatures that won Best in Show at the Utah State Fair. But there was more. She saved birds that crashed into the sliding glass door, over and over again. She saved chipmunks from fallen nests and kept them as pets. She even raised an orphaned baby hummingbird that loved to perch on her finger. She loved so much, and received much love in return. She found joy working in her yard and making it into a magical retreat - complete with ponds, fountains, and tame fish. Summers were spent in her beautiful yard, or camping at their mountain property in Evergreen Park. Wherever she was, it was all about family. She loved to be surrounded by everyone and everything she loved. She collected trinkets and made lasting friendships everywhere she went. She began working with the Bountiful LDS Temple to repair altar cloths. Word of her work spread and it became a calling, then an official mission. She was proud of her missionary name tag as she worked closely with the temple department and managed the many volunteers around the world as they crocheted altar cloths for nearly a decade. She loved the temple, and being involved with them in this way, to make them even more beautiful, brought her great joy. Brenda believed it was best to work for the Lord because He had the best retirement benefits. We will miss her smile, her laugh, and her love. From her we learned we could do anything we put our minds to, and that actions speak louder than words. Her faith in her Savior never wavered and she taught us to recognize His presence in our daily lives. She has left her legacy through her children, grandchildren, and all who were blessed to know her. Brenda is survived by her five children, Cindy (Jim) Singleton, Dan (Janet) Edvalson, Sheri (Dave) Allred, Kristin (Geoff) Wardle, Monica (Mark) Zesiger; brother, Tom (Joyce) Jensen, two sisters, Ann (Paul) Davis, and Pam (Kevin) Fielding, brother-in-law Blaine Rhodes, and a sister-in-law Diana Edvalson. Other survivors include thirteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2023 from 12:30-2:30 p.m. at the LDS Church at 1039 Crestwood Road in Kaysville. Interment will follow at the Kaysville City Cemetery. Special thanks to Debbie Thaxton and her crew from Applegate Hospice, the staff at Rocky Mountain Care, the staff at the University of Utah Medical Center, and friends from the Kaysville 10th Ward. Services are being provided by Serenity Funeral Home.
