Clella Clark Jolley

Clella Clark Jolley departed this world on January 4, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was 97 years old, a remarkable woman that will be missed by all who knew her. Clella was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Clella was born April 22, 1926, in Bountiful, Utah. She was the eighth of 13 children born to Nathan George Clark and Cleo Afton Call. Clella attended public schools in Davis County, graduating from Davis High School in 1944. She attended BYU where she met and married Max Earl Jolley in 1946. They later divorced. She had five children whom she raised with a blend of tenderness and resilience. Her home was a sanctuary of love and support, where values of service, kindness, integrity, and faith were instilled in the hearts of her children. As a mother, she offered unwavering support, guidance, and an abundance of love that extended to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Clella was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where her faith and dedication to her beliefs served as an inspiration to all who knew her. She found solace and strength in her faith, and her commitment to living a life guided by love and compassion left an indelible mark on those around her. Clella was a family woman through and through. She loved attending her children and grandchildren’s sporting events and loved getting together to play card and dice games, always striving to be the winner. She made memories traveling near and far. She made time for everyone and had a close network of friends. Even after her family grew and grandchildren and great-grandchildren moved far away, Clella would never forget a birthday by sending a heartfelt card with a special $2 bill. Her hobbies included crocheting, sewing, puzzles, and quilting. She loved Coca-Cola with no ice, the Utah Jazz, and Jeopardy! Clella worked at Sperry Univac for 20 years. After retiring, she served as a volunteer at IHC/IMC hospital for 32 years. In her 97 years of life, Clella witnessed tremendous changes, yet her steadfast spirit remained a source of strength and inspiration. Her positive outlook, resilience, and unconditional love left an enduring legacy that will continue to shape the lives of those she touched. As we mourn the loss of a truly extraordinary woman, let us remember Clella with gratitude for the love she shared, the lessons she imparted, and the countless cherished memories that will forever live in our hearts. Clella is survived by her five children, Clark (Barbara) Jolley, Gordon (Jean) Jolley, Sherry (Bill) Varley, Burke (Elaine) Jolley, and Tony (Sandra) Jolley, 22 grandchildren and 73 great grandchildren; sister, Afton Bair, and brother, George Clark. She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers: Ezra Clark, Rodney Clark, Freeman Clark, Clifton Clark, and Alton Clark, and sisters: Naomi Perry, Athelia Mara, Cleo Rampton, Marr Koelliker, and Marial Clark; grandson, Scott Varley, and daughter-in-law, Mary Jolley. Clella will be buried at Bountiful City Cemetery on January 10, 2024.
