Danny James Martin

Danny James Martin, father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, and friend passed away peacefully at his home in Draper, Utah on June 17th, 2023, at the age of 71. Dan was born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah to parents Ray Jess Martin and Gladys Gertrude Wyman (Martin) The most important thing in life to Dan was his family and six children. He will be remembered for all the heart he shared with his friends and family. He truly loved each of them – and if you knew him, you knew it. When his time came, he carried himself with dignity and strength, and full of love for those that went before him. He will be missed dearly Dan was strong willed and stubborn at times, but he also had an enormous heart and a mischievous sense of humor. He was generous, kind, and compassionate and you could always count on him being available with an open ear and no judgement. Dan had a successful career, working for Kennecott Copper Mine for over 30 years as a heavy equipment mechanic; earning several safety awards. He was so talented that he could fix anything mechanical. After retiring he became known as “Dan the Man” in his community because he was always fixing things for friends and neighbors. He rarely accepted payment and often when he did, it would be in the form of cookies. One of Dan’s passions was going to the races, and building/restoring classic muscle cars. He loved all things fast! Dan is survived by his children; Jessica (Tony) Butler, Tonya Berman, Jacob (Kimberly) Martin, Gina (Anthony) Martin, Shon (Jessica) Martin. He is also survived by his siblings; Raymond (Sonya) Martin, James Platt, and Sterling Pierce, as well as 15 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Dan is proceeded in death by Raymond Jess Martin and Gladys Gertrude Wyman Martin (parents), Danny Martin (son), Sherry Martin (wife), and many siblings; Corrine Pierce, Deanna (Gerald) Fullmer, Vonnie (Gerald) Trimble, Bud (Rosario Flores), Darlene Platt, Ray Martin “Little Ray” The mark he left on each of us will forever be engrained in our memories and our love for him will never fade. It’s not a matter of good-bye, it’s until we meet again in Heaven. The family will receive friends from 4PM to 6PM on Monday, June 26th, 2023, at 8117 South Leslie Drive West Jordan, Utah 84088. The funeral service to honor and celebrate Dan’s life will follow at 6PM
