DAVE DEWEY JUDD (English) Dave Dewey Judd left this life peacefully and surrounded by loved ones on Thursday evening, February 12, 2015 in his home in Magna, Utah at the age of 93. He was born in Colonia Chuichupa, Chihuahua, Mexico on October 30, 1921 to Helaman Judd and Clementina Jarvis, the fourth of eleven children (of which there were three sets of twins!). Like many who were raised in the “Mormon Colonies”, Dave was raised with a strong work ethic, learning the value of hard work early on. While he only received an eighth grade education, he was gifted at carpentry and anything else that had to do with building and using his hands. He was especially good at giving new life to old and “useless” things, an example followed by many who worked by his side throughout his life. Dave met the first love of his life, June Robinson, at a Church Social while June was visiting her sister Donna Johnson in Colonia Juarez. After a modest courtship, they were married in the Mesa Arizona Temple on September 22, 1942. They moved to San Diego, California to begin their married lives together. Not long after their first daughter was born, Dave did what many of his generation were doing and joined the war effort of World War II by enlisting in the United States Marines. He served in the Marines for two years until the war ended and he was able to return home to his family in San Diego where they lived for the next 21 years and raised their family of 9 children – 3 girls and 6 boys. A carpenter by trade, Dave worked hard as a contractor during those years raising his family, all the while serving as Branch President of a small branch just across the border in Tijuana, Mexico. Then in 1965, Dave and June moved their family to Colonia Juarez, in Chihuahua, Mexico, and Dave went to work for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints to help build chapels and other Church facilities in Mexico. Seven years later, in 1972, Dave, June, and their three youngest children (the older children having married, moved, in school or on missions), moved to Guatemala City, Guatemala, to continue the work of building and maintaining chapels throughout Central America as the Building Supervisor for the Central American Area. Dave continued working for the Church throughout the remainder of his career, supervising the construction and maintenance of the Church facilities in the southeastern United States while living in Atlanta, Georgia, and then in the Midwestern United States, moving his family to Denver, Colorado, where June and he could be closer to their children and grandchildren. Then the Church announced that they would be building a temple in Guatemala City, Guatemala and Dave and June longed to return to this beautiful country so Dave requested that the Church allow him to help in the building of the House of the Lord in Guatemala and he and June returned to Guatemala in January of 1983 to begin the work. June, however, would not be able to help him finish the work, as she became gravely ill with a pre-diagnosis of breast cancer and passed away later that year in July. Dave thought that he would have to return to the United States as well, and not be able to finish the Temple, but the Lord had other ideas for him, and soon a new convert, a young widow with two children that had recently moved to Guatemala from El Salvador caught his attention. He hesitated at first, but the Lord let him know in no uncertain terms that this is what He had prepared for Dave. After a brief courtship he married the second love of his life, Concepcion Elena Munoz in a civil ceremony in Guatemala City, Guatemala on November 17, 1983. They were later sealed in the Guatemala Temple on December 12, 1984, the first couple to be sealed in the Temple that he helped to build. She would be his faithfull, sweet companion for the second half of his life. After finishing the Guatemala Temple, Dave and Elena were sent to Guayaquil, Ecuador to help build the Temple there, but were sent home a year later when President Hinckley decided that they needed to wait a little bit longer to build the Temple there. On their return in 1990, Dave decided to retire from his service in the Church and settle in West Valley, then in Magna, Utah, where he was called to be a Patriarch for the Spanish-speaking saints in the Salt Lake and Utah valleys for 19 years until he was no longer able to. These words cannot do justice to the rich and full life he lived. He left a legacy of hard work and loving service to the Lord and to his earthly brothers and sisters. He touched the lives of those he worked with and served, and made a difference in the lives of many. He left this world better than he found it, was greatly loved and will be sorely missed. Dave is survived by his second wife Concepcion Elena Judd, his eleven children – Judy (and Ray) Schrader, Priel (and Brian) Johnson, David (and Iris) Judd, Grant (and Cyndi) Judd, Robert (and Cindy) Judd, Matthew (and Joni) Judd, Mark (and Marie) Judd, Paul (and Annette) Judd, Laurie (and Pavel) Ramos, Carmen Elena (and Luis) Bayona and Juancarlos Judd, along with more than seventy grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dave is preceded in death by his first wife, June, and six of his siblings. Siete años después, en 1972, Dave y June y sus tres hijos menores (sus hijos mayores ya habiéndose casado, mudado, estando en la escuela o en misiones), se fueron a vivir a la Ciudad de Guatemala, Guatemala para que Dave pudiera continuar la obra de construir y darle mantenimiento a capillas a través de Centro América como el Supervisor de Construcción para el Área de Centro América. Dave continuó trabajando para la Iglesia a través del resto de su carrera supervisando la construcción y el mantenimiento de las facilidades de la Iglesia en la parte sudeste de los Estados Unidos mientras que con su familia vivieron en Atlanta, Georgia y después en la parte central del oeste de los Estados Unidos y llevar a su familia a vivir a Denver, Colorado donde June y él pudieran estar cerca de sus hijos y nietos. Luego la Iglesia anunció que estaría construyendo un templo en la Ciudad de Guatemala, Guatemala y Dave y June anhelaron retornar a ese bello país, así que Dave solicitó que la Iglesia le permitiera a él ayudar en la construcción de la Casa del Señor en Guatemala y así fue como él y June retornaron a Guatemala en enero de 1983 para iniciar la obra. June, sin embargo, no pudo ayudarle a él a concluir la obra ya que ella llegó a estar muy grave con una diagnosis previa de cáncer del seno y falleció más adelante en julio de ese mismo año. Dave pensó que él también tendría que volver a los Estados Unidos y no poder finalizar la construcción del Templo, pero el Señor tuvo otros planes para él porque muy pronto una nueva conversa, una viuda joven que tenía dos hijos y quien se había ido a vivir del Salvador a Guatemala captó su atención. El titubeó al principio, pero el Señor le dejó saber en términos no inciertos que eso era lo que Él había preparado para Dave. Luego de un breve cortejo se casó con el segundo amor de su vida, Concepción Elena Muñoz en una ceremonia civil en la Ciudad de Guatemala, Guatemala el 17 de Noviembre de 1983. Ellos fueron después sellados en el Templo de la Ciudad de Guatemala el 12 de Diciembre de 1984, siendo la primera pareja que fuera sellada en el Templo que él ayudó a construir. Ella sería su compañera dulce y fiel durante la segunda mitad de su vida. Después de finalizar la construcción del Templo de Guatemala, Dave y Elena fueron enviados a Guayaquil, Ecuador para ayudar a construir el Templo ahí, pero fueron enviados a casa cuando el Presidente Hinckley decidió que los miembros necesitaban esperar un poco más de tiempo para que el Templo se construyera ahí. Al volver en 1990, Dave decidió jubilarse de su servicio en la Iglesia y se estableció con su familia en West Valley City, Utah y más tarde en Magna, Utah donde fue llamado a servir como Patriarca para todos los santos de habla hispana de los Valles de Salt Lake y de Utah por 19 años hasta que el estado de su salud no se lo permitiera. Estas palabras no pueden hacer honor a la vida rica y plena que él vivió. El dejó un legado de trabajo duro y fuerte y de servicio amoroso al Señor y a sus hermanos y hermanas terrenales. El tocó las vidas de aquellos con los que trabajó y sirvió e hizo una diferencia en las vidas de muchos. El dejó este mundo mejor de lo que lo encontró, fue amado grandemente y será extrañado profundamente. A Dave le sobreviven su segunda esposa Concepción Elena Judd, sus once hijos e hijas - Judy (Ray) Schrader, Priel (Brian) Johnson, David (Iris) Judd, Grant (Cyndi) Judd, Robert (Cindy) Judd, Matthew (Joni) Judd, Mark (Marie) Judd, Paul (Annette) Judd, Laurie (Pavel) Ramos, Carmen Elena (Luis) Bayona y Juancarlos Judd, y más de setenta nietos, bisnietos y tataranietos. Dave fue precedido por la muerte de su primera esposa, June y seis de sus hermanos y hermanas.
