Derrick L Guymon

Derrick L Guymon passed away on January 17, 2024, at his mother’s home in Draper, Utah, following a courageous battle with cancer. Derrick was born on May 21, 1966, in Murray, Utah, to Rex D. and Luana Lunnen Guymon. He was the fourth of six children. As a youth, he loved playing baseball and he was exceptional at it. One summer, he was even chosen to play on an All-star baseball team in Canada. When Derrick wasn’t playing baseball, you could find him outside riding his dirt bike, or hitting the trails in Corner Canyon – one of his favorite places. He attended Draper Elementary, Mount Jordan Junior High, and Alta High School. Derrick married Andrea Angel, and they share a son, Rick L. Guymon. Derrick and Andrea later divorced. Derrick continued to be a dedicated, loving father and raised Rick as a single parent. Eventually, Derrick married Michelle Smith and they settled in Sandy, Utah. Rick has always been his pride and joy, and he often voiced that “Rick is the one right thing I did in my life.” Derrick and Rick shared several interests, but music was their passion. They attended many concerts together, including some of their favorites, Ozzy, Black Label Society, and L.A. Guns. Derrick has always had a strong work ethic. He worked in the HVAC industry for most of his adult career. He was employed by Corner Canyon School District at the time of his death. He was preceded in death by his father, Rex D. Guymon. He is survived by his mother, Luana Lunnen Guymon, wife, Michelle, son, Rick, three sisters, Gina (BJ) Brown, Dana (Mike) Johannessen, Meisja Haight, two brothers, Merritt Guymon, and Matthew (Kristin) Guymon, granddaughter, Summer Aurip, close friend, Patty Bowler, best friend, Bruno, and many nieces and nephews. We’re missing you Derrick, but we know you are at peace, and assume Dad has already put you to work with some crazy project, like raking rocks! Funeral services will be held Friday, January 26th, 2024 at the Draper 2nd Ward LDS Chapel at 11:00 a.m. (1617 East 12700 South, Draper, UT). A visitation will be held prior to the funeral services from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Following the services, Interment will be at the Draper City Cemetery (12441 South 900 East, Draper, UT).
