Elda Lee Brand

Our beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, Elda Lee Brand, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2025, at the age of 81, in Mapleton, Utah, surrounded by the love of her family. Her life was a beautiful example of faith, kindness, and dedication to family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Elda was born on July 23, 1943, in Lehi, Utah, to Fern Elnore Fausett and Eldon Joseph Mayoh. She was raised in Heber, Utah, where she graduated from Wasatch High School. It was in this close-knit community that she developed a deep love for her family and the gospel. She married the love of her life, Jack Brand, on November 26, 1963, in Elko, Nevada. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on November 29, 1968. Elda and Jack built a beautiful life together, first raising their children, Kenneth and Kerri, in Orem, Utah. Once their children were grown, they returned to Heber. They later became snowbirds, spending part of each year in St. George, Arizona. For over 15 years, they made St. George their home. Elda was always a gracious host, welcoming family and friends with open arms. Her home was a place of warmth and comfort, where anyone who visited could find rest in the extra bedroom she lovingly prepared. Throughout her life, Elda was passionate about creating and sharing her talents. She had a love for ceramics, opening a ceramic shop in Heber where she taught others the art of ceramic chalking. Her kiln was always busy, baking beautiful ceramic sculptures for her friends and customers. She was also skilled in a variety of crafts, including sewing and canning fruits and vegetables. Family memories were often made on the banks of the Berry, fishing for the popular rainbow trout of Strawberry Reservoir, creating cherished moments that would last a lifetime. Elda’s greatest joy was her family, and she cherished every moment spent with them. She was a devoted mother to Ken (Cathy) Brand of Mapleton and Kerri Burns of South Salt Lake. She was a loving grandmother to six grandchildren—Jessica, Michelle, Cortney, Amber, Joshua, and Hunter—and a proud great-grandmother to 13. Elda also shared a special bond with her brother Russell (Jerry) Mayoh, who resides in Kentucky. Elda is preceded in death by her husband, Jack, her parents, two brothers, and a sister. Though we will miss her presence in our lives, we find comfort knowing she is now reunited with her loved ones on the other side. Elda’s battle with cancer was swift and merciful. From the time of her diagnosis of the heinous disease to her passing was just 19 days. God, in His infinite mercy, took her home before she had to endure the suffering that so many face in their final days. We find peace in knowing that her transition was peaceful, and her pain was minimal. Elda made lasting friendships wherever she went, and her kind spirit and generous heart touched countless lives. As we remember the special moments shared with her, especially during our trips south, we know that Elda’s presence will never be forgotten. Her love and light will continue to guide us, and our trips south will never be the same without her, but we will carry her memory with us always.
