Elva spent her teen years in Ignacio, Colorado and graduated from Ignacio High School. She later moved to Los Angeles, California to attend Nursing school at USC Medical School General Hospital, where she graduated and then went to worked at USC General Hospital before moving to Midway, Utah in 1974 where she continued to nurse at Wasatch County Hospital until her disability forced her into retirement. Elva became a much-loved feature of Midway with her feisty attitude, infectious smile and sense of humor. She definitely Loved her family and friends, three cats at home. If you were lucky enough to try her "famous" Navajo tacos or bought any of her handmade jewelry, you would have to go back again and again to buy more or visit with her and Veda. You would often find them with a booth at Wasatch County Fair Days, Swiss Days (where they still serve what they call "Swiss" tacos now) and at most community events. Elva adored here daughter, Veda and became "Mom" to many of Veda's friends and was treated as one of the "gang". She also was a lively storyteller of Navajo traditions and personal experiences. Elva is survived by her daughter, Veda Henderson and many other close family members from New Mexico and Arizona on the Navajo reservation, Mother Carmen Kohler family and the family of Audrey and Brent Hill. She was preceded by her parents and several other deeply loved family members. Veda would also like to express a very special thanks to the care Doctors, Two Physical therapist in Heber and Midway for their kind and compassionate care of her mom. A viewing will be held on Friday, December 13th from 6-8 pm Center Ward at 250 E. 200 S. Legacy Building. A second viewing will be held Saturday, December 14th from 9:30-10 am with a funeral service to follow at 10:00 am. Graveside service at Midway Cemetery.
