Eva Maria Martinez-Hernandez

Eva attended elementary school up to the fifth grade in Mexico before leaving her studies to help support her family. At just 17, she bravely traveled to the United States, where she began working as a housekeeper at a care center. Over the years, she held jobs in different fast-food restaurants and eventually became an independent contractor, cleaning homes and offices with dedication and pride. Eva had a true gift for creativity and detail. She loved interior design and always had an eye for making things beautiful. Whenever there was a special family event—like a wedding, quinceañera, or baptism—she was the one who joyfully styled her nieces’ hair into intricate and elegant hairstyles. She also loved attending concerts and events, and she cherished traveling to visit family across the country. Being outdoors brought her peace and happiness, whether she was hiking, camping, or simply sitting in the backyard enjoying nature while surrounded by her nieces and nephews’ laughter. She also had a passion for fashion. Eva had impeccable taste and always found the most stylish clothing, so much so that her family knew they could count on her for fashion advice. Her faith was central to her life—she was a devout Catholic who prayed constantly for her family’s wellbeing. Children held a special place in her heart, and she loved her nieces and nephews dearly. They felt so close to her that they began to lovingly call her “mom.” Eva was a selfless, kind, and nurturing soul who touched everyone she met. She leaves behind a tremendous emptiness in our hearts and will be deeply, dearly missed. She passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by the love of her family. She is survived by her parents, Evelia Hernandez and Raul Martinez; her 3 brothers and 9 sisters; along with 13 nieces, 10 nephews, and 3 great-nieces and 1 great-nephew. She is preceded in death by her grandmother, Maria Calderon Villagomez; her uncle, Juan Rojas; and her beloved family friend, Daren Redden. With love and gratitude, the Martinez Hernandez family would like to thank Leah, Alexis, and Olivia Redden for embracing Eva with kindness, endless love, and unwavering support throughout her life—for treating her as family and loving her as their own. We also extend our heartfelt thanks to all those who have supported and uplifted Eva throughout her earthly journey. A rosary will be prayed on Monday, August 25th, at 5:00 p.m. at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, 7405 S Redwood Road, West Jordan, UT. Mass will follow at 6:00 p.m. Eva estudió hasta el quinto grado en la primaria. Después dejó la escuela para trabajar y ayudar a su familia. A los 17 años viajó a Estados Unidos, donde comenzó a trabajar como encargada de limpieza en un centro de cuidados. Más adelante trabajó en varios restaurantes de comida rápida y, con el tiempo, se dedicó a limpiar casas y oficinas como contratista independiente. A Eva le apasionaba el diseño de interiores; tenía un gran ojo para los detalles. Siempre que había una ocasión especial, como una boda, quinceañera o bautizo, le encantaba peinar a sus sobrinas con estilos hermosos y elaborados. Le gustaba mucho ir a conciertos y eventos, además de viajar para visitar a su familia en todo el país. Amaba estar al aire libre: disfrutaba de las caminatas, acampar o simplemente sentarse en el patio trasero para relajarse en la naturaleza mientras veía jugar a sus muchos sobrinos y sobrinas alrededor suyo. También le encantaba ir de compras para encontrar la ropa más moderna. Tenía un gusto impecable, y por eso siempre sabíamos que podíamos acudir a ella en busca de consejos de moda. Eva fue una católica devota, siempre rezando por el bienestar de los suyos. Los niños eran su alegría más grande; disfrutaba tanto de pasar tiempo con sus sobrinos y sobrinas que ellos mismos comenzaron a llamarla “mamá.” Eva fue un alma generosa, cariñosa y llena de ternura, que nos deja un vacío enorme en el corazón. La vamos a extrañar profundamente. Partió de este mundo en su hogar, rodeada por su familia. Le sobreviven sus padres, Evelia Hernández y Raúl Martínez; 3 hermanos y 9 hermanas; así como 13 sobrinas, 10 sobrinos, 3 sobrinas nietas y 1 sobrino nieto. La recibieron en el cielo su abuela María Calderón Villagómez, su tío Juan Rojas y el querido amigo de la familia, Daren Redden. Con el corazón abierto, la familia Martínez Hernández agradece de todo corazón a Leah, Alexis y Olivia Redden por haber tratado a Eva con tanta bondad, amor y apoyo durante toda su vida; por acogerla como a una de las suyas y darle ese cariño tan especial. También extendemos nuestro agradecimiento más profundo a todas las personas que la acompañaron y apoyaron en su camino por esta vida. El rezo del rosario se llevará a cabo el lunes 25 de agosto a las 5 p.m. en la Iglesia Católica St. Joseph the Worker, ubicada en 7405 S Redwood Road en West Jordan, UT. La misa se celebrará a las 6 p.m.
