Survived by Linda Kilgore (wife), Ron PoWell (brother, best friend, confidant) (Carolyn, wife to Ron), Narissa Paige Foster (sister), nieces, nephews, many relatives, and last but not least his precious cat, Face. Preceded in death by both parents (Cecil and Nancy Powell), three brothers, many relatives and his beloved cats. A resident of Salt Lake city for over 45 years, living in the same home. But spending much of his free time exploring the Wasatch Front and visiting the many of the malls along the valley. Frank joined the Navy in 1965 and went to boot camp in San Diego: Electronic Class "A" School at Treasure Island: Navy Nuclear Power School in Bainbridge, MD, and Prototype in Schenectady, NY. He was then stationed in Vietnam aboard the USS Benewah APB35 for a year, followed by three years aboard the USS Hunley AS31 in Charleston, SC. While in Charleston Linda and Frank met and were married on May 29, 1970. Frank worked at the same company for 38 years before retiring in March 2010. Frank believed in education, he spent many evenings around the kitchen table mentoring and tutoring his nieces, nephews and kids from the neighborhood. Frank will be remembered as the uncle who inspired many of our family’s first college graduates. He will be greatly missed. The family would like to acknowledge Sam, Bree, Chris and Daniel from Salt Lake Regional Hospital for the amazing kindness and respect they showed to Frank in his final days. Frank was a man of honor, and he was treated as such under their care. We can never express our full gratitude. And to all the other nurses, doctors and staff who treated Frank so well, thank you also. We appreciate the kindness you showed him and our family during his final journey. Services will be held Friday October 8th at 11:30 AM, with a viewing from 10:30-11:30 AM prior, at Serenity Funeral Home in Bluffdale Utah. Graveside Services will be held afterwards at Veterans Memorial State Park, Camp Williams, Bluffdale, Utah after the services.
