Gary James Horrocks - 7/11/1938-8/11/2013 Gary James Horrocks, loving Husband, Father, Son, Brother, Grandfather and Great Grandfather passed away August 11, 2013. Gary was born on July 11, 1938 in Pocatello, ID to Clarence and Margaret Horrocks. He married JoLene Pyne December 6, 1958. Gary is survived by his Wife of 54 years, JoLene; 4 children, Glenda Johnston (Michael), Scott (Celeste), Brett (Doris), and Darin (Wendy), 13 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and his brother Bill Horrocks and sister Marjean Smith. Gary owned a Service Station for 20+ years in Midvale, Utah and later became an Insurance agent and a School Bus Driver for the Jordan and Canyons School District. For the past 23 years, Gary has driven for the school district where he loved the kids and the kids loved him. Gary is known by his family as a loving man that loved everyone and who was admired by all. Gary has been an example of hard work, patience, and Christlike love. Gary loved being with his family, attending all of the kids sporting events and supporting his family. He could be seen helping his kids repair a car, teaching them to fish, remodeling a home or working in the garden. Gary was usually the first one to be seen on the sidelines of a sporting event cheering on his kids and grandkids, or holding a baby and watching over his family. Gary had a strong testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, he taught his children Christlike Love and serving one another. Gary planned to retire from the School District this year and was diagnosed with cancer in December. After his courageous battle with cancer Gary returned home to our Heavenly Father. He passed away on August 11, 2013 in his home with his wife and children by his side. A viewing will be held Tuesday, August 13, 2013, 6:30-8:00 p.m. at Butler 4th Ward, 2301 East Bengal Blvd., SLC, UT. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 14, 2013, 11:00 a.m., at the South Mountain 6th Ward, 1911 Grey Fox Drive, Draper UT (east of the Draper Temple), with a viewing from 9:30 a.m.-10:30 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment: Mountain View Memorial 3115 E Bengal Blvd., Sandy.
