Gwenyth N Schaerrer

Gwenyth N. Schaerrer, age 89, passed away December 27, 2017 surrounded by her family. Gwen was born January 1, 1928 in Monroe, Utah to Alice Ann R. and Angus S. Newby. She married Lynn Jacob Schaerrer on February 14, 1950 in Monroe, UT. Gwen and Lynn were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on May 10, 1972. Our beloved mother has now been reunited with her husband after 31 years. Gwen was preceded in death by her parents, Alice Ann R. and Angus S. Newby, daughter Michelle, husband Lynn, and her brothers and sisters. She is survived by her children Ann (Joe) Dupaix, Stephen (Jerrie), Mark (Stephanie), Diana Isaac, David, 16 grandchildren, and 25 great grandchildren. Family was her greatest joy and biggest accomplishment. She enjoyed John Wayne movies, going to drive-in theatres, camping in the outdoors with family, gardening, playing cards and dice games, specifically Blew It. Mother had a great sense of humor, was quick with one-liners, loved to travel, and enjoyed cooking for family, friends, and whoever stopped by the house. Her children always knew where they stood with their mother; the line was clear as to what they could or could not do. Mother instilled in her children many values, in particular was the value of hard work and diligence. Those values have been passed along to her children and grandchildren. Mother extended her big heart to all. She respected people for who they were and was slow to render judgement. Mother balanced work while raising a family of five children. She left the food industry to take employment with Mountain Bell where she worked until she retired. She held many church callings which allowed her to share her love of the gospel. Our Mother’s life has touched so many of us through her example of how to be a mother, grandmother, friend, and neighbor. A viewing will be held for family, friends, and neighbors on Thursday, January 4, 2018 from 6:30 to 8:30 PM at the Rose Canyon 8th Ward located at 14398 South 6400 West, Herriman, Utah. A service/celebration of life (and her 90th birthday) will be held Friday, January 5, 2018 at the Rose Canyon 8th Ward Herriman, Utah from 11 AM to 12:30 PM.
