Hengdee was born in Prey Veng, Cambodia. She met her husband, Samath in the jungles of Cambodia as they both escaped the Civil War that was happening in the late 1970’s. They were able to escape and marry in October of 1979 in Thailand in the refugee camp. They both were sponsored to the United States to start their life together. She was one of the most selfless people you’d meet. Her smile would warm your heart. Hengdee enjoyed cooking food for her family and get togethers. Her favorite past time was gardening, as she was always proud of her garden and did whatever it took to make her work stand out. She loved the outdoors and walks, and most of all enjoyed being with family. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother to her family. She always kept and put her family first. She is survived by her husband, Samath Lat, who were married for 43 years and raised 2 wonderful children; son, Samown and daughter Sopair, granddaughter Lida, sister-in-law, Sa Ouem, nieces Sovenlakhena & Chakriya. Arrangement for our mom’s funeral are as follows: On Saturday, October 15th, 2022, from 9:30 AM to 2 PM, we will have a traditional Cambodian dedication & ceremony (invite only) for family and friends to pay their respects at the Utah Cambodian Community Buddhist Temple, 3325 West 3800 South, West Valley City, UT 84119. There will be a light lunch served as well. Please dress accordingly. On Sunday, October 16th, 2022, we will have the traditional American funeral service at the Serenity Funeral Home from 1 PM to 4 PM. Viewing services will be from 1 PM to 2:30 PM followed by the program from 2:30 PM to 4PM.
