Janet White Estey

Janet (White) Estey, was born on June 22nd, 1931 to Naomi Matilda Ensign White, and Richard Parry White. She had one older sister, Perditia White. She lived and grew up in Sugarhouse, at 1420 McClelland Street, where she attended the Emerson Ward. She graduated from South High School. She served an LDS mission to Finland in 1951, where she had many wonderful experiences. She loved teaching the Finnish people, and she loved serving the Lord. Her dream, for many years was to return to Finland, to visit where she had served. She fulfilled that dream in August 1999, when she and her daughter Laura, made the trip back together. She married David Earl Estey on July 19th, 1960, and together they had 7 children. Glenn Earl, Dale David, Linda Janel, Steven Thomas, Pattilyn Janet, Laura Ann, and Jeff Davis. She and David later divorced in 1986. Janet never remarried. Janet had many gifts and talents, a couple of which were sewing and knitting. All of her children have a blanket, a scarf, some pot holder, dish clothes or socks, lovingly knitted by her. Her favorite things to do were whatever her children and grandchildren were involved in, so you would often see her enjoying a baseball game, a marching band, a band concert, an orchestra, a dance concert, a baby shower, a baptism, a baby blessing, or a parade. Another one of her favorite things to do was to go out to eat, and would frequent many local restaurants. Janet had a deep love for Utah, especially the Utah Mountains. She loved to drive up Big Cottonwood Canyon where her family had once owned a cabin. Janet loved to travel, and visited many places around the world. But when she returned to Utah and saw the mountains, that's when she felt like she was "home". She loved the gospel of Jesus Chris, and fulfilled many callings in the church, throughout her life. She loved attending the temple and performing ordinances there. She enjoyed teaching English to some of the Spanish speaking members. Janet took care of her Mother in the last few years of her Mother's life, and she often talked about how much love she gained for her Mother, by serving her in this way. She later worked as a caregiver for many who were living with Alzheimer ’s disease. Janet could always tell when someone was hurting or worried, just by looking at them. Even if you thought it didn't show, she could see it. And she was always willing and ready to be a shoulder and a listening ear. Janet loved people and would strike up a conversation with anyone, anywhere she could. She sometimes talked about how painfully shy she was as a child. She spent her life Facing that fear, and overcoming it. Janet stood tall, at 5'10".and taught her children to always "do good" and stand tall!! She has many adoring grandchildren; Roylin Marie Renzo Duckworth, Naomi Janel D'Hulst, Brandon Jared D'Hulst, Gabriel Jon Estey, Spencer Thomas Estey, Danielle Russon, Amber Russon, Jazmine Wylynn Robertson, Nico McCormick Robertson, Steven Hess Pedersen, Stephanie Ann Pedersen, Brandon Glenn Pedersen, Melanie Elizabeth Pedersen, Lilliana Estey, and Miles Estey, 6 great children; Mikaili Faith Duckworth, Zekiah Roy Duckworth, Victoria Grace Duckworth, Nixie Rayne Duckworth, Christopher Sanger, and Alexus Sanger She will always be well remembered for her quick wit, and good humor!! She LOVED to laugh, and we loved laughing with her!! We will always be grateful for her influence, and example in our lives. We ALL love you, Mom!! You did GOOD~!! Stand Tall!! :) \
