Janice Joy Probst Hansen

Janice Joy Hansen April 28, 1946 – November 18, 2025 Janice Joy Probst Hansen returned home on November 18, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on April 28, 1946, in Midway, Utah, Janice was the youngest of ten children born to Nephi and Beth Probst. She cherished a close relationship with her parents and siblings and was deeply proud of her Swiss heritage. Jan enjoyed an ideal childhood in Midway surrounded by farm animals and even a beloved pet deer named Bambi. She made childhood friends that remained close throughout her entire life. After graduating from Wasatch High School, Jan attended LDS Business College, where she earned her degree as a stenographer and began her professional career. On June 6, 1969, she married the love of her life, Eddie Roland Hansen, in Orem. Later, the two were sealed by her dad for time and all eternity in the Provo Utah Temple, a commitment that defined the deep foundation of love and devotion at the center of their marriage. Janice worked for several years, then chose to devote herself fully to her greatest calling—raising her children. Being a mother was the joy and focus of her life, and she loved supporting her children in every endeavor. Together, Jan and Eddie built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and cherished family traditions. Their home was a place where everyone felt welcome—because Jan made sure of it. Of everything she did, she valued time with her family most. Her family was truly the center of her world. As her children grew older, Jan returned to the workforce and served as the Administrative Assistant to the principal at Granite Elementary, where she worked until retirement and made lifelong friends. She had a strong testimony of the Savior and emulated Christlike love in the way she served—through her numerous church callings, her constant care for neighbors, and her ministry to those around her. Service was simply who she was. She especially loved serving dinners to widows and widowers and throwing parties or luncheons for friends and family. She had a gift for making every gathering feel special and memorable. Jan was a true social butterfly with a heart of gold. She made friends easily and kept them for life. Janice had many passions and talents. She loved playing the piano and organ. She made sure she read every day. An avid reader, she loved her book club and continued learning throughout her life, even studying Spanish in recent years. Jan kept a daily journal and loved scrapbooking to preserve her family’s history in writing and pictures. She enjoyed yard work, planting beautiful dahlias, organizing, cooking, water aerobics, and camping in her beloved Midway. Shopping at TJ Maxx was a favorite pastime, but it wasn’t shopping for herself-she loved to give gifts to everyone. She adored butterflies, jewelry, and bright colors. She loved holidays and delighted in entertaining her children and grandchildren at Halloween, Easter, and Christmas—always making them magical. Janice is survived by her beloved husband, Eddie; her children Nathan (Jaynan), Angie (Ryan), Joshua (Amy), and Jonathan (Katelyn); ten grandchildren: Conner (Hailey), Jade (Kegan), Carter, Logan, Aeris, Jaxson, Braxton, Erich, Lexi, & Adam; and the joyful anticipation of twin great-granddaughters arriving this spring; and brothers Kyle and Paul. She is preceded in death by her parents and seven of her siblings. Her legacy of love, service, and compassion will continue to influence all who knew her. Jan will be remembered for her kindness, her faith, her smile, and the way she made everyone feel like family. In honor of her vibrant spirit, the family kindly invites those attending her services to wear bright, cheerful colors that reflect the joy she brought into every life she touched. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 29, 2025 at The Granite View Stake Center, 9880 South 3100 East, Sandy, Utah at 11 am. Friends may visit Friday, November 28, 2025 from 5-7 pm and one hour prior to the services at the church. Interment will be at Granite Cemetery following the funeral services.
