Janice Marchant Pope

Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Janice Marchant Pope, age 83, of Cottonwood Heights, Utah, passed away on April 5, 2026, in Salt Lake City, Utah, She was surrounded by her loving family. Janice was born on January 8, 1943, in Roosevelt, Utah, to Grant G. Marchant and Mary Ethel Perry. She grew up on a family farm, where she loved riding horses and helping raise her brothers. A proud cheerleader at Union High School in Roosevelt, she was also an accomplished seamstress. On November 25, 1960, Janice married her sweetheart, Kay Pope, in Roosevelt. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple. Shortly after their marriage, they moved to Provo, Utah, while Kay attended Brigham Young University. Janice’s greatest joy in life was her family. She was the heart and glue that held everyone together. She made clothes for her children, sewed matching pajamas for her kids every Christmas, and later continued the tradition for all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Many of them also received sewing lessons from her patient and skilled hands. She loved planning family gatherings and monthly birthday celebrations. She cherished holidays and traditions—especially her love for temples, American flags and all holiday’s. Janice and Kay created many cherished memories with their family at Lake Powell, where they enjoyed waterskiing, camping, roasting marshmallows, and simply being together. She was known for her ability to organize every detail of these trips with care and enthusiasm. A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Janice loved her church callings, particularly those involving children. She served with joy in Activities Day callings and was a cheerleader for the young girls in her care. She found happiness in laughing with friends, sharing lunches with her children and grandchildren, and being a source of love and strength for all who knew her. She is survived by: • Her husband of 65 years, Kay Pope • Her children: Mike (Janet) Pope, Cheryl (Jerry) Nelson, Tiffany (Dave) Glissmeyer , Jason (Cathy) Pope, David (Danielle)Pope • Grandchildren: Megan, Jared, Mallorie, Justin, Jordan, Lexi, London, Bryce, Jonathan, Michaela, Jeremy, Diesel, Halie • Great-grandchildren: Kennedie, Pyper, Dylann, Beaux, Payton, Kanyon, Leighla, Fayth, Reya, Kayson, Scottie, Nixon, Evanie, Enzo, Kaizlyn, Charlie, Banner and Leo. • Brothers: Glade Goodrich (Cheryl), Jay Marchant (Paulette), Perry Marchant (Teresa), Fred Goodrich She was preceded in death by her father, Grant Marchant; her mother, Ethel Goodrich; her stepfather, Evan Goodrich. Viewing will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2026, from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. Both will take place at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1845 East 7200 South, Cottonwood Heights, Utah. Interment will follow at the West Jordan City Cemetery. Janice will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched with her laughter, creativity, and unconditional love. She truly was the heart of her family.
