Jenny Beth Cunningham

We find it perfectly fitting that Jenny chose the first day of Spring, when new life begins, as the day she would begin her own life anew. On the beautiful afternoon of March 20, 2026, Jenny Beth Draper Cunningham passed peacefully from this life, surrounded by those who love her, and rejoined all the members of her family who had passed on before. To know Jenny was to love her, and in turn, to be loved by her. Throughout her life Jenny lived in constant service to others; often losing herself in bettering the lives or experiences of those around her. Despite having no children of her own, Jenny dedicated much of her free time to her 23 nieces and nephews, treating them as her own and giving them extremely fond memories to look back on and remember her by. Whether it was a gas station trip to get an icee and treats, going to the mall to ride the escalators, or a summer visit to swim in her pool, days with Jenny were always enjoyed. Jenny's proudest achievement in life was her near-completion of a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work. She maintained a straight-A report card for her last three semesters, which shows the immense work she dedicated to it. When she started working toward this degree, Jenny was determined to show that no matter your age, anything is possible. In May of 2024, just one semester before graduating with her degree, Jenny suffered a major stroke, which left her with the use of only one working limb and blindness in the left half of each eye. Despite the immense physical limitations she found herself facing after the stroke, she was determined to show people that even if you have a disability, anything is still possible. She was unwavering in her determination to finish school, earn her Master's, and work as a therapist to help those that might find themselves in a similar situation of medical mishap. Unfortunately, she wasn't able to complete the final semester, but she was an incredible example to her family and all those who knew her of determination, perseverance, and not making excuses when conditions aren't ideal. Born on September 24, 1973 to Grant L. Draper and Barbara Ann Turner, she was the eldest daughter and second child of 8. All throughout her life she was a very quiet and shy person, preferring to observe rather than be heard - and never wanted the attention to be on her. She was always quite fond of cats, and as an adult treated them not as pets, but as her children. She was extremely loving and kind to all animals, and you could often find her at a family gathering holding the cats or playing fetch with the dogs (while also entertaining the smaller children who gravitated toward her). Jenny was born and raised in Lehi, and attened Lehi High School as a part of the graduating class of 1991. She served a full-time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. In 2004 she married (James) Kevin Cunningham, but later divorced. She found herself in many receptionist positions for work, placing herself at the front lines for helping, serving, and caring for others. Her final job was working overnight shifts at a residential boys home, watching over teens going through crisis. She maintained this position throughout her full-time schooling. Through the many trials in her life, big or small, Jenny never once uttered a word of complaint about her situation, especially (and remarkably, even) after her stroke. She always looked on the bright side, perhaps taking inspiration from her favorite movie, Pollyanna; "It doesn't do you any good to complain". Jenny always just looked for the good. Jenny was welcomed to the other side by her parents, Grant Draper and Barbara Beagley, all of her grandparents (Newell & Beth Turner, Aleene Turner, and Paul & Donna Draper), and Lisa, the little sister she had always looked forward to meeting. She is survived by her nieces and nephews (and greats!) and her siblings, Jason Draper, Randi (Shane) Draney, Heidi (Martin) Parker, Matthew (Alexis) Draper, Summer Lloyd, and Tyler (Whitney) Reeve. Jenny will be remembered by all who know her for her complete, genuine selflessness and love. She was incredibly resilient and determined, her strength being an inspiration to those who watched her fight through -and overcome- her many trials, especially these last two years. As per her wishes, there will be no traditional funeral services. Instead, she wanted to do a pig roast (and even had it all planned out!), so we will honor that wish by having a Celebration of Life Pig Roast for all family and friends who would like to come share stories and memories of Jenny on Sunday, April 26th at 5:30 pm located at 811 S. 2300 W. Lehi, UT 84043 Her potluck assignments (in her own words) are as follows: A-C: potato salad or "salad" salad- but not a fruit one. D-F: drinks. Whether you do a 2-liter drink, homemade rootbeer, single can drinks, whatever kind of drink you wanted. G-I: fruit salads. If you bring a green jell-o salad, just don't put any carrots in... or raisins. J-L: paper plates and napkins with plastic forks and utensils and cups. M-T: deserts and treats. U-Z clean-up duty. (Don't worry U-Z's, we'll all help, this is just what she assigned to your group!)
