Julia Ann Sorenson Lund

Julia Ann Sorenson Lund, 86, made a peaceful return to her Heavenly Father on October 26, 2025, surrounded by her family in Alpine, Utah. She was born December 7, 1938 in Paul, Idaho to Seldon Dale Sorenson and June Moncur Sorenson. She married Harold Brent Lund on December 14, 1956. Julie grew up in Southern Idaho in the towns of Heyburn, Burley and Idaho Falls, spending a few of those years in East Grand Forks, Minnesota. She attended Idaho Falls High School, where she met and later married her high school sweetheart, Brent. She was active in different sports, including, volleyball and basketball and was a member of her high schools Tigerettes team, being gifted with the baton. Julie was a homemaker and busy with four children, three sons and one daughter. In 1964 the family relocated to Southern California where they would reside for the next 40 years. Julie was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, dedicating many years of service working in the Primary, Boy Scouts, and the Relief Society. Remarkably, there was a time when she and her three sisters all held the position of Relief Society President simultaneously. Julie was very active in community sports along with her husband, Brent, who served as a coach along with her three sons and daughter, all participating in various sporting actives for many years. Julie’s compassionate heart and love for the little one’s led her and her family to foster six newborn babies through LDS Social Services adoption program. While the goodbyes were always bittersweet, Julie cherished the opportunity to nurture and care for these beautiful infants, playing a role in their journey to finding forever homes. When the youngest of Julie’s children entered high school, she obtained employment to fill her time, while she continued her standing appointment with friends on the golf course. In 2004, and after she and her husband retired, they closed the Southern California chapter of there lives and moved to Alpine, Utah, where she enjoyed her family, the beautiful mountains and the slower pace of life. Julie was a seasoned gardener, proficient in both vegetable and flower gardens, earning her the title of “petunia lady”, in the neighborhood. Julie is survived by her children; Mark Lund, Craig Lund, and Kelley Lund Hawkins; eight grandchildren; Justin (Elizabeth) Lund, Dallin Hawkins, Jason Lund, Megan Hawkins Sharaf, Travis (Karen) Hawkins, Trevor (Karlie) Hawkins, Amber Hawkins, Blake Lund, seven great-grandchildren; Joslynn Hawkins, Ryan Lund, Tayzen Hawkins, Olivia Sharaf, Indy Hawkins, Roman Sharaf, Brooks Hawkins, sister Patricia Parkin, Brothers-in law; Ron Packard and Larry Larson, many nieces and nephews, all of which she loved. She was preceded to Heaven by her parents, sister Jean, sister Phyliss and son, Richard. The family would like to their express deepest gratitude family members and friends for the overwhelming love, support and generous acts of services received.
