Julie Kaye Hardman

Julie Kaye Hardman, age 68, of Salt Lake City, Utah, passed away on Friday, August 21, 2026, following complications from a recent surgery. Julie was born on June 19, 1958, in Murray, Utah, to Gordon Wesley Hardman and Betty Jean Hardman. She grew up in Salt Lake County and, throughout her adult life, made her home in Ogden, Grantsville, and Salt Lake City. As a young adult, Julie returned to complete her education. Her graduation was an especially meaningful accomplishment, and she was incredibly excited and proud of what she had achieved. Throughout her working life, Julie held a variety of positions. She used her sewing talents to make clothing and outdoor gear for companies including Patagonia and Black Diamond. She also worked for a health product manufacturer and in cabinet manufacturing. Julie was intelligent, innovative, hardworking, and a natural troubleshooter who approached life and work in her own determined way. Julie’s faith was at the heart of her life. She loved the Lord passionately and served as a pastor in the Church of God of Prophecy, including pastoring in Grantsville. She also traveled to preach, minister, and serve in other communities. Julie expressed her faith through preaching, music, and service. She played the drums in her church band, possessed a beautiful singing voice, and could often be heard singing and praising the Lord. She also shared her church community with her nieces and nephews, taking them to church services and youth retreats. Julie knew and loved the scriptures deeply. In nearly every conversation, regardless of the subject, she could recall a scripture that spoke directly to the circumstances at hand. She had a remarkable ability to connect everyday experiences with the word of God, offering faith, wisdom, and perspective to those around her. Julie was fun, funny, independent, forgiving, kind, and wonderfully quirky. She loved riding her motorcycle, skiing at Powder Mountain, watching movies, dressing up for holidays, sharing good food, and reminiscing about funny family experiences. She loved to laugh and could bring humor and personality into almost any situation. Although Julie never married or had children of her own, she was deeply loved by generations of nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. She was a one of a kind aunt who filled their lives with laughter, adventures, kindness, and unforgettable memories. She shared her interests with them, taught them new things, welcomed them into her homes, and made ordinary time together feel fun and exciting. Julie also had an enormous and relentless love for her dogs, whom she considered her children. Peppy, Socks, Shadow, Buddy, Sugar Bear, and Chico each held a special place in her heart. Chico, her beloved rescue dog, survives her and is now being lovingly cared for by her nephew Troy. One of Julie’s greatest expressions of love was the care she gave to her family. She lovingly cared for her mother, her father, and her stepmother, Glena, when they could no longer care for themselves. Her devotion, patience, and willingness to serve reflected her generous heart. Julie also quietly helped neighbors and others in her community. Following her passing, many people shared stories with her family about the kindness and generosity Julie had shown them. Her loving influence reached further than even those closest to her fully realized. Julie is survived by her siblings, Connie Jean Ljungberg, Mark Gordon Hardman, and Rebecca “Beck” Miller; generations of nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews; her beloved dog, Chico; and many extended family members, church friends, neighbors, and others whose lives she touched. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gordon Wesley Hardman and Betty Jean Hardman; her stepmother, Glena; and her siblings Ronnie, Donna, and Loretta. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, August 29, 2026, at Draper City Park’s South Pavilion. Guests may begin arriving at 10:30 AM, with the program beginning at 11:00 AM. Julie will be remembered for her passionate faith, beautiful voice, generous heart, unforgettable humor, fierce individuality, and the love she freely shared. She was truly one of a kind, and the memories she created will continue to bring laughter, comfort, and love to her family and friends for generations.
