KayLyn Gonzales

KayLyn Gonzales, 22, passed away on February 15, 2022 in Murray, Utah due to complications from Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension. She was born November 18, 1999 in Orem, Utah and raised by mother Tamra Lyn Gillenwater (Stephens) and step-father Leonard Edward Gillenwater along with father Bryan Matthew Gonzales and step-mother Kyleen Colet Gonzales (Petersen). Our baby girl was a fighter and after nearly 5 years of living with Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension, her fight is now over. There is nothing greater in this world, for a parent, than watching their child grow and learn and love. KayLyn took every opportunity she had to do all of this to the fullest. She was granted only 22 years on this earth, and she packed each and every day full of life. Her disease limited her physical capacity, but never her determination to push that aside and do every fun and interesting thing she could come up with. She loved her life, her family, her boyfriend Macgyver, and her dogs. She cared deeply for others and was a wonderful sister to both her and Macgyver’s siblings. She enjoyed hosting family breakfasts at her new home. She spent hours building Lego sets, playing card and board games, and watching movies and tv shows. She loved to craft, create, and was studying Interior Design. If sheer will and desire were all that was needed to overcome the challenges she faced, she would have outlived us all. KayLyn is survived her mother and step-father Tamra & Lee Gillenwater; her father and step-mother Bryan & Kyleen Gonzales; siblings Chris (Helen) Gonzales, Travis Gonzales, Natasha Gonzales, and Colby Gonzales; step-siblings Tyson (Courtney) Bowers, Launa (Kyle) Wadsworth, and Tegan Larsen; maternal grandfather Tom Stephens; paternal grandfather and grandmother Ron & Eileen Gonzales; and her boyfriend Macgyver Yei. KayLyn was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Debra Stephens. We welcome anyone that knew and loved KayLyn to join us in saying goodbye and celebrating her life on Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at the Elk’s Lodge, 1000 S University Avenue, Provo, Utah. Her viewing will begin at 9 a.m., followed by a private family prayer at 11 a.m., and ending with a service and time for loved ones to share memories and celebrate her life. KayLyn will be laid to rest in the Pleasant Grove cemetery with a private graveside service.
