Kenneth L Nelson

Kenneth L. Nelson was 65 years old when he passed away on July 27th, 2026 in West Jordan, Utah. He was born in Salt Lake City to Elmer and Gertrude Nelson. He married his sweetheart Nadya in West Jordan on July 31st, 2021. Ken graduated from the University of Utah and worked for Salt Lake Community College for more than 20 years in the Publication Center for the English Department. He loved teaching students how to make books from printing, cutting pages, making the covers, glueing, cutting and sewing or binding them. He was proud of his job there. He also worked at Home Depot as an associate in the tool department. He loved talking with customers and helping them choose the right tool for the job they needed to do. He was happy to start a new chapter with Home Depot as a full time associate. Ken was very creative and artistic. He was looking forward to setting up his workshop when he retired. He loved working with wood and he made beautiful things with it. Anyone could give him an idea and he would made it real. You could always count on him whenever you needed any kind of help. He was also planning to plant his vegetable garden, he loved tomatoes the most. He loved nature, flowers, plants, fruit trees, birds, rivers and lakes. While on a trip to Florida, he loved the beach and watching the crocodiles, from the boat of course. He was a deer hunter, and hunted with his dad and his nephew. He loved going fishing too. Ken had a great sense of humor and loved practical jokes. He loved games and playing cards. He is survived by his wife, Nadya; his three sons, Tony, Payo and Nick; his three sisters, Alma, Barbara, Cindy (Tom); his brother, Doug (Elaine); and many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Gertrude and his niece, Brandee. A celebration of life will be held from 3:00-7:00pm on August 1st, 2026 at the LDS church house at 5349 W 9000 S, West Jordan, Utah. Please join family and friends as we gather to celebrate the life of Ken and honor the memories, love, and legacy he leaves behind. We will have a service at 3:00pm, followed by an open house for anyone who would like to accompany us for dinner at 4:00pm, and socializing afterwards.
