Kent Brown

Marvel Kent Brown, a mountain of a man with a heart full of love for all those he knew, passed suddenly to his next estate on January 16, 2020, in Millcreek, Utah from a heart attack. He married Beth Brown on Oct. 15, 1954. Beth passed away on April 15, 2001. Then he married Gladys White Brown on Oct. 19, 2001. He was born June 14, 1936 in Idaho Falls, Idaho, from humble beginnings on an Idaho farm, to making sure everyone was warm and comfortable in Salt Lake City, Utah. Professionally he made it his goal to excel at providing heating and air conditioning for many of the largest institutions in the state of Utah and Wyoming. He also serviced many of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day-Saint temples and meeting houses. A devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints, he served in many callings including: High Priest Group Leader, Temple Coordinator, and as a Church Service Missionary with his wife Gladys. Kent had a warm welcoming smile, which he was well recognized for. It brought happiness to others. He had a quick wit and a great sense of humor. He loved to sing and would remember family and friends on their birthday with a song. As a youth he looked forward to attending dances with his high school sweetheart Beth. They spent many dates dancing together, for Kent was an amazing dance partner. Kent met Gladys at a church dance, spun her around and swept her off her feet. It was love at first sight. He was the son of Marvel Clinton Brown and Ida Elizabeth Childs. Survived by wife Gladys White Brown, daughters Connie (Leonard) Gundersen, and Charlene (Samuel) Craghead; son Ronnie Lee (Deborah) Brown, thirteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren; step children; Teppi (Lance) Sessions, Teresa (Hunter) Haight, Paul (Teresa) White and eleven step grandchildren and one step great grandchild. Preceded in death by his loving wife Beth Phillips Brown, son Steven Kent Brown, grandson Benjamin David Brown, granddaughter Crystal Dawn Brown, step grandson Samuel David White and brothers Robert H. Brown and Boyd Childs Brown along with a sister Marian Brown Allen. His family and especially his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren loved spending time with Grandpa. Outdoor camping and boating trips were among some of his favorite activities as a family. He will be truly missed. Viewings will be held on Wednesday January 22, 2020 from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm and on Thursday, January 23, 2020 from 9:30 am to 10:30 am at the Winder Third Ward at 4551 South 1200 East, Millcreek, Utah. Funeral services will be held on Thursday January 23, 2020, at 11:00 am at the same location at the Winder Third Ward, 4551 South 1200 East, Millcreek, Utah. The family wishes to thank Shaun, Anne, Martha, Stephen, Dr. Pahl, Amanda, and Keri from Solstice Hospice for their loving care. Interment at Elysian Gardens, 1075 College Street, Salt Lake City, UT 84117.
