Malakai Pua Fakahua

Malakai Pua Fakahua, age 81, passed away Thursday, April 9, 2015 in St. George, Utah at Dixie Regional Medical Center following a brief illness. He was born in Pangai, Ha’apai, Tonga on January 23, 1934 to Akositafinau Havea and Salesi Misinale Fakahua. He married Latu Vava’u Finau in November 1964 in Vava’u, Tonga and in 1967 they were sealed for time and eternity in the Oakland California Temple. They raised their children in San Bruno, California and retired to Ivins, Utah to be closer to their family. He is survived by his wife Latu Vava’u of Ivins, Utah, their children and grandchildren: Oscar Pua (Jennifer) Fakahua and their children Marley McCall Akositafinau, Mason Douglas Matekitonga, twin grandsons Mark Drake Misinale, and Morgan Drew Malakai of Cedar City, Utah; Salesi Misinale (Kimberly) Fakahua and their children Veamalohi Richard Nailasikau, Alisi Katalina Latai Finehika, and Malakai Pua Ongomaimeipulotu of St. George, Utah; Ulukilupetea (Mose Sauni) Nio and their children Alfred, Sione, Tala’elelei, Sauniaumalemanu, twin grandsons Tonga ‘Uliuli and Samoa Ali’i Solia, twin grand daughters Marley Si’i and Mana, and great grandson Iona Mikaele of Ivins, Utah; Anaseine Liumetupou (Edward) Wright and their children Laaina’ipangai Litiane, Toshfatafehi Alexander, Regina Fuifuimoana Losaline, and Ulukilupetea Vaikolelea Faith of Santa Clara, Utah, and his younger sister Alisi Finehika (Petelo) Mafi of San Mateo, California. He was preceded in death by his parents Akositafinau and Salesi Misinale, twin grand daughters Marley Si’i and Mana, and all his older Fakahua and Lavulo siblings. Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 14, 2015 from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Ivins, Utah Stake Center, 290 E. 1060 S. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 15, 2015 beginning the day with a final visitation for family and friends from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM with funeral services following from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM. Bishop Hurt, of the Ivins 9th Ward, will officiate the services. Interment to follow at the Ivins City Cemetery 55 N Main. All Service are under the direction of Peni Malohifo'ou of Serenity Care.
