Mark was born in Salt Lake City, Utah April 30,1993 to Nancy Sligting and Dave Rasmussen. He is the fourth of five siblings. He has two older sisters Kristi and Mary, one older brother Brandt, and one younger brother Kevin. Mark grew up in both Riverton and South Jordan, Utah. He graduated from Bingham High school in 2011. As a young boy he was a Skateboarding and sports enthusiast, but his true love and passion was always basketball. It was his escape in life and brought him much joy both playing and watching. He was a talented player and it was a joy to watch him on the court. His talent of basketball blessed the lives of others and he gained many friends through the sport. He was also an avid Utah Jazz fan. Discouraged by his short stature as a teenager, he eventually grew to 6’3” in height which he attributed to his persistent prayers. He became a pro at dunking the basketball. He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Independence, Missouri, where he brought many souls to Christ and had many spiritual experiences. Mark loved his family. He loved being an uncle to his nine nieces and nephews. He cherished his dogs, Ralfie and Alma. Mark understood what was important in life, he gravitated to and loved the less fortunate and those in need and he would often give them the coat right off of his back. Mark touched many lives and was able to connect with people from all aspects of life. He taught us all to love and understand others. Because of Mark we learned to be more patient, have greater humility and love unconditionally. We have a much greater understanding of how precious life is. Because of Mark we know that regardless of circumstances we are all equal and loved by God. Mark had a subtle and dry Sense of humor that brought us joy and laughter. He loved to make people laugh. One of his greatest attributes was his beautiful smile. Mark was a man of deep faith, who lived his life according to his values and beliefs. He considered Jesus his best friend, and we believe the Lord held him in his hands many times. Mark looked to the Lord for strength throughout his life, especially in the final days of his illness. In his final days he told us how much he looked forward to meeting Jesus. He bravely endured both mental and physical afflictions throughout his life until he was delivered through death. We believe that he willingly accepted these challenges before he was born to gain experience in his earthly life and to teach others. Mark will be remembered for his love of sports, his passion for basketball, and his love and devotion to Jesus Christ. He is deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He was a blessing to us all. Mark’s funeral will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, April 28th, 2023 at the Grandville Chapel: 11677 Grandville Ave, South Jordan, Utah Mark will be interned at the South Jordan Cemetery
