Mele Kulaea Havili Lao Dec. 1928 – Dec. 2013 Our loving Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother, Mele Kulaea Lao returned to her Heavenly Father peacefully on December 2, 2013, surrounded by many members of her family. Kulaea was born on December 15, 1928, to Tevita Havili and Lesieli Tevunga Havili, in Tongamama’o, Niuafo’ou, Tonga. Kulaea married Sateki Lao and later have 8 children. Kulaea was an active and dedicated member of the LDS church serving in many callings and considered her testimony and her family as the greatest possessions in her life. After the death of her husband Sateki Lao in 2011, she continue to enjoy being with her children, grand-children and great-grand children. She loves and enjoys the members of her Sandy 4th Ward. She was an active participant when she attended services at her ward, and devoutly read her scriptures and studied church doctrine and history. Kulaea is survived by her children; Sione Latu Lao (Lynda ), Tevita Lao (Olive), Latai Latu (Lualala),'Isileli Lao ('Ailine), Mele Nekesi (Folau), Hekoti Lao (Mapuana), Saia Lao ('Elenoa), Sipola Kaufusi ('Alipate), Paula Paongo (Milika), Ma'ati Maile (Temutisa), two sisters, Mele Hala’api’api & 'Ilisa Vaka ; 45 Grand children, 81 Great-grand children; numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. Kulaea was preceded in death by her husband, Sateki Lao, grandson Daniel Lao and 'Isileli Motekiai Lao, grand-daughter ‘Akesa Lao. We will miss you grandma but we will never forget your unforgettable love to all of us. A viewing will be held Sunday December 8, 2013 from 7pm - 1030pm. Funeral services will be held Monday, December 9, 2013 at 11am. Both viewing and service will be at the Salt Lake Utah South Tongan Stake Center, located at 4620 West 5015 South. Interment will be at the Redwood Memorial Cemetery.
