Melinda Kaye Arnold

Mindy Kaye Arnold, born May 26, 1966, died at her West Jordan home October 21, 2014. Mindy was the daughter of Kay and Raphealla Arnold. Raphealla died of cancer when Mindy was one and one-half years old and she was lovingly raised by Kay and his second wife, Mary. Mindy grew up in South Jordan, Utah and attended South Jordan Elementary, Bingham Middle, and Bingham High School where she was on the drill team. Mindy was married in 1987 and that marriage produced four beautiful children: Jordan, Tyson, Abbee and Allee, who she loved very much. As a single mother Mindy worked tirelessly and without complaint to make sure her kids had everything they needed. There was never a time when her family wanted for food, clothing or housing. This love extended to her three grandchildren, especially Mylee, who never wanted to leave Mindy’s side. Mindy worked as an aide for children with special needs at South Hills Middle School until the time of her passing. Every student she worked with loved her like a mother and trusted her as a best friend. She could turn around a bad mood with her uncanny wit, her never-ending empathy, and her accepting demeanor. Her laugh was infectious and her green eyes, brilliant. During the last two years Mindy tried her hand at stand-up comedy and successfully performed at many local comedy clubs and festivals. She had a real knack for making people laugh and helping people see the humor in everyday, seemingly mundane things. Mindy is survived by her children: Jordan (Alexa) Holt, Tyson Holt, Abbee Holt (Art Rodriguez), and Allee Holt; grandchildren: Mylee Rodriguez, Alizae Holt, and Carson Holt; and family members: Mary Arnold, Gary (Kaye) Arnold, Jeannette West, Jeff (Wendi) Arnold, Shawn Arnold, Darin Arnold, Dan (Teresa) Arnold, Travis (Andrea) Arnold, Brad (Rinda) Arnold, Mike (Barbi) Arnold, and Gavin Arnold. Her father Kay Arnold preceded her in death. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 25, 2014, at the LDS South Jordan River Ridge First Ward building, 10124 south 1300 west, South Jordan, Utah, at 11:00 am. Viewings will be held Friday evening from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm and also one hour prior to the service (10:00 am – 10:45 am). In lieu of flowers, please make donations in order to help offset the cost of the burial.
