Ratu Apenisa Lovodua Tuisavura

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Ratu Apenisa Lovodua Tuisavura, 76, on July 30, 2026 at Mountain View Hospital, in Payson Utah. Son of the late, Ratu Nemani Radabi Tuisavura and Adi Lusiana Matai Salaseini Tawaqa, born on August 28, 1949 in Viani, Fiji. After the death of his father at a very young age, he was blessed to be loved by many other parent figures including his father, the late Ratu Jone Ramanu Daligaedua Lewenilovo. Ratu Apenisa lived a trying but joyful life, rooted in culture and respect. Born in Fiji, he attended primary school there. His family joined the LDS church as a child and in his teen years he traveled beyond the shores of Fiji over to the Kingdom of Tonga to finish his schooling at Liahona High School. Upon completion of high school he returned home, to serve the Saints of Fiji and the Lord on a full time mission in Fiji, under the leadership of President Groberg in the Tonga Nukualofa Mission. Returning from his mission he left the shores of Fiji once again, to join his family in Laie, Hawaii where they had relocated to assist in the labor of building the Polynesian Cultural Center. It’s here he would meet his wife, Lusiana Baleibau Damuni, and start a family that would forever be rooted in Laie. His enrollment in the US ARMY would take them from Hawaii, to Korea to Germany, Japan and California, before returning in 1995 to Laie where it all began. He was always active both physically and mentally, besides working and providing you could find him on a rugby field, a tennis court, playing chess or even answering every and any question on a nightly episode of Jeopardy. Life led him to many places and when it mattered the most, it led him back into the waters of baptism, returning his life and commitment to the Savior in January of 2026. Of all his accomplishments and joys, the undisputed joy of his life were his grandchildren. Ratu Apenisa is survived by his wife Bale, children Ratu Nemani (Harmony), Alumita, Emosi (Grischel), Adi, Thomas “Major”, and Ratu Viliame “TuVili” (Parewhakaarahia). Brother, Ratu Joji Lewenilovo (Luse). Grandchildren, Sereima, Talapatina, Ratu Nemani “Buju”, Serina, Mosiah, Marley, Rushen, Rain, Eva, Ratu Nauca, Waqa, Roku, and Radabi. And great grandchildren Vaka, Reid and Adi Litea. Along with countless nieces and nephews. Blessed to be greeted on the other side of the veil, by his parents, Ratu Nemani, Adi Matai, and Ratu Daliga. And siblings, Adi Kuini Covulaca, Ratu Jope Lewenilovo and Adi Unaisi Mitimiti. Public viewing will be held on Saturday 8/15/26 from 9am- 11am to at the Slate Canyon Stake Center in Provo Utah. Followed by a Bishops service at 1pm. He will then be flown on one last Delta Airlines flight returning to the Aloha State of Hawaii where he will be laid to rest near his brother Ratu Jope in the Punchbowl Memorial Cemetery in Honolulu, Hawaii on 8/19/2026.
