Ronald Lester Ostler

Ronald Lester Ostler 1940 - 2021 Ronald Lester Ostler – an example for all, a mentor to many, a friend to everyone, and an individual who loved to provide service to others – died on August 18, 2021, at his home in Orem, Utah, in the early morning. He was 81 years old. Born July 24, 1940, in Los Angeles, California to Lester John and Roberta Roper Ostler. He had a love for sports all his life. Ron loved playing all sports, but baseball is where his passion lied. It didn’t matter if he was playing sports, coaching sports, or watching sports he was happy. Ron’s true treasure of joy and happiness came when he married his eternal companion Paulette A. Ostler on January 29th, 1965. They had their five boys: Ron, Jon, Sean, Greg, and Marc who were all loved. He even had nicknames for his boys which are: Engelbert Humperdinck, Little Cecil, Big Elmer, Little Herman, and Aka Richie Nara bald. After his family, his greatest accomplishments came from teaching others. He coached anyone and everyone who was willing to listen to his great wisdom; however, his passion was teaching his five boys how to play sports with an emphasis in baseball. He was well educated and earned his master’s degree from Bringham Young University where he also played baseball. Ron loved the gospel and his family because he believed families are forever. He taught his five sons everything he knew about life. He did this through what he knew, which was sports. He gave everything he could to those five boys. The greatest gift he gave them was his love and time. They received his undivided attention every day of every month of every year. Most people can only dream of having such a father, but his five boys will never forget his dedication to them. When they weren’t playing sports, fishing, talking, listening to music, or just hangout, they would be wrestling. He loved taking us all on whether one at a time or all five at once he could still pin us all. He was famous for making us say “Mama chi-chi, ich lieba dich, banana koalaka can’t you see a chickery chick for me for me goose-goose let loose.” This was the only way that the boys could get free. The greatest complement his boys can give him is to live their lives as he lived and better. Life is a journey in which all mankind should be constantly improving themselves. This is how Ron lived his life. Ron served his Father in Heaven by serving others anyway that he could without seeking recognition. In doing this he was a great example for his five boys. He loved being in the shadows as he didn’t want to be the center of attention when it came to things of the church. However, he truly loved the Lord and did all that he was asked to do in his life. In life we all stand out in our own way because we are all individuals with our own talents. Ron stood out by being a great example for those who paid attention to what goes on behind the scenes. Ronald Lester Ostler was the greatest father and husband of all time because he loved his boys and his wife, Paulette, and showed it by giving them his time.
