It is with profound sadness we announce Saulisi Mahe passed away tragically and unexpectedly on Thursday, April 25, 2024 in a work accident. His departure from this world was untimely, leaving behind a multitude of shattered hearts and memories infused with laughter and kindness and promises he’s now unable to keep. He was 43 years old. He was born on November 19,1980 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Kalofiama and Fakamalinga making him the first of his family born in the United states of america. Amongst many loved ones that have passed before Sau, he joined his brother Mifi Mahe and father whom he missed incredibly. He guided, nurtured, protected, sacrificed and loved Sau. Although we are deeply saddened by his passing, we can’t help but to imagine the joyous and beautiful reunion he experienced beyond the veil. From a young age, he carved out his niche as one of 10 children living in Utah and in the islands of Tonga. His siblings are: Talita Naulu (Sione), Siosaia (Ana), Silipa Mahe, Tiala Tupola (Taniela), Fatai Makaafi (Vite), Siahi Makaafi (Tevita), Vesinia Faamausili (Michael), Atunaisa (Ana), Siosaia Kioa Hinkly Mahe and Siosaia Kioa Mahe. He met the love of his life, Leilani Unutoa, his partner in crime, his ride or die and they married on October 14, 2006. They created 6 beautiful human beings together. Lusiana (16), Saulisi (15), Sosaia (13), Ioane (12), Talita (11), and Mifi (9). They were sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple for time and all eternity on Feb. 23, 2013. If you asked Sau, he would tell you that his most esteemed accomplishment and cherished treasure was his wife and children. Sau spent 8 years working on Oil Rigs where he became a CDL driver. After the pandemic he was finally able to work as a driver and come home every night. He had a reputation for his strong commitment to safety and conscientious behavior. Sau’s love and devotion over the years allowed him to be seen as a beloved husband, father, brother, son and uncle. He had a special place in his heart for the innocence of children and was a beloved uncle to 57 nieces and nephews. A multitude of young individuals affectionately referred to him as uncle, as Sau made everyone feel like family. He had a way of endearing himself to others through defending the defenseless, offering shelter and warm meals and providing a compassionate ear without judgment, but rather with unconditional love. His gentle spirit extended beyond his own family, as he served as a father figure to countless others. He is lovingly referred to as a Gentle Giant by his loved ones. There were challenges that he faced as a young man that he met with trust in our Lord and faith in him; it never wavered. It enabled him to recognize the pain in others more clearly than most. He had a special affinity for the disadvantaged and down trodden souls of this earth whom he regularly cared for in any way that he could. Sau’s journey was an example of perseverance, love, compassion, dedication and giving. The quote “He would take the shirt off his back for a stranger.” was not a saying, it was Sau’s way of living. Sau dreamed of his family all being together and he worked diligently to make that happen, he loved his house being loud and filled with laughter and love. We are sure that he is smiling down on us and that he is overjoyed that his dream has come true and we are all together. Sau’s absence leaves a profound void in the lives of those who knew him. Yet his legacy of kindness, love, and boundless giving will endure , forever etched in the hearts of his family, friends and all who were fortunate enough to cross his path. Though he is no longer here with us in person, his spirit will continue to inspire and uplift, serving as a guiding light for his legacy, his children.
