Sidney M. Mack

A much-loved husband, father, grandfather, son and brother, Sidney M. Mack 69, of Salt Lake City, passed away peacefully at George E. Wahlen Veterans Memorial Hospital on May 25, 2013 with his family present. He passed away due to natural causes. He was born on April 1, 1944, in Salt Lake City Utah. Sid resided in Centerville, Utah. He attended South High School from 1959 to 1961. Sid served in the US Army from 1965-1967 during the Vietnam War and received an Honorable Discharge. Sid was a well known and sought after self employed textile installer most of his working career. Sid loved to play golf at Wasatch with his golfing buddies (Dick, Stevie and many others). He also enjoyed gambling trips to Wendover, NV, playing pool or bowling with friends and he loved to dance with Nancy. Sid was a very good dancer. He also enjoyed working on his home and planting flowers in his garden. The white commode with flowers in the bowl was the center piece and was always a conversation starter. He has survived by his wife of 34 years, Nancy Reed-Mack of Salt Lake City; daughter Patti Dunyon and partner Deborah Gilbert; son David Christensen; son Kelly Lee Christensen and wife Sherry Christensen; son Monty G. Reed Jr. and wife Andrea Reed; son Michael S. Mack and wife Laura L. Mack of Seattle, WA; Brother Guy Mack and wife Marjorie Mack. Sid also has 23 Grandchildren and 8 Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his Father Douglas M. Mack, Mother Orael Augusta Mack and his brother Richard (Dick) Mack. Sid was very proud of his family, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 29, 2013, at the LDS Church Building on 8181 West Breeze Drive Magna, Utah. Sid was a larger than life man’s man who was always ready and willing to share his opinion even if you were not. Sid was also well known for being a man of his word and if Sid liked you he was always ready to donate his time and knowledge to help and never worried about who owed what. But if “you stepped on it” you were in trouble. Sid had many phrases he was known for, the most popular and common was “I am what I am” which meant you can take me or leave me as I am. Dad I will miss you as will the rest of the family, I know you are with Uncle Dick playing on a heavenly golf course and sipping the best bourbon ever created.
