Sione Kuakini Fotu

SIONE KUAKINI FOTU, 43, passed away peacefully after a long battle with colon cancer, on Monday, May 30, 2016 at his home in Sandy, UT. Surrounded by his family and loved ones. He was born on June 17, 1972 in Nukualofa, Tonga to the late Seluimatai Fotu and Kafo'atu Latu Ofamo'oni. On May 27, 2000 he married the love of his life, his wife: Lolohea Leialoha Fotu and together they have 7 children and 1 grandchild. Sione Kuakini Fotu better known as "Kini" was raised in the "Maile Taha" township in Nukualofa, Tonga. His family moved to California for a short time and then Hawaii before he made his way to Utah where he met his lovely wife, Lei, and made their home in Sandy, Utah. Kini was a humble, loving, compassionate and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where he served faithfully for many years up to the month before his passing. Kini was an Electrician by trade but had an extraordinary gift of fixing and building anything he put his mind to and he utilized these gifts in the service of others. Kini is survived in death by his wife: Lei, his children: Sione Kuakini ("Kini Boy"), Arianna Alofa Vikamaopa ("Nanzi"), Ikua, Sione Matealona ("Johnny Boy"), Maika Nafetalai ("Mikey Boi") and Mele Tulua ("Baby Girl"), his grandson: Viliami Tangitau Latu, Jr. ("Patcho"), his mother: Kafoatu Latu Ofamo'oni, his siblings: Amelia Heilupea'u, Maika (Sokopeti), Latai'iliku'a (Sione), Tu'itupou (Oli'via), and Lilieta Salome, as well as his nieces and nephews and family members who he loved so much. Kini is preceded in death by his son: Hingano Hehea Latu, Jr. ("Junebug"), his father: Seluimatai Fotu, his brother: Malakai, his paternal grandparents: Sione Fotu Vakameilalo and Mele, as well as his maternal grandparents: Tevita Misifane Latu and Siosiana.
