Terezinha Moura Andrade

Terezinha Moura Andrade, 84, passed away on January 15, 2020, in South Jordan, Utah. She was born February 5, 1935, in Pombal, Paraiba, Brazil to Levino Batista de Moura and Ana Maria da Conceicao. She married Antonio Domingos Andrade in Pombal, Paraiba, Brazil on September 20, 1953. Terezinha was the youngest of 13 children. Her father was considered a man of means and she felt that she had a privileged childhood considering the poverty of northeastern Brazil. She spoke fondly of riding horses while living on her father’s ranch. For her education she was the only child to leave the ranch and live in the city with her godparents and attend a formal school. Her father did not approve when Antonio Domingos Andrade asked for her hand in marriage. But at the age of 18 they eloped and were married without her father’s permission. Children came quickly with the birth of Antonio Carlos within a year followed by Auxiliadora just two years later. Three more children Francisco Assis, Rui Ramos and Santina Marta came in the years to follow making the family complete with five children. Life in Pombal was difficult and in 1968 after the birth of their youngest daughter they moved to Sao Goncalo, Rio de Janeiro. It was there in 1971 that the family was introduced to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. After joining the Church Antonio and Terezinha were sealed for time and eternity in the Sao Paulo temple in 1979. Terezinha watched as three of her children served as missionaries. Terezinha remained a faithful member of the church throughout her life. Terezinha was a talented seamstress and could create and make clothing from a picture in a magazine. She altered prom dresses, wedding dresses and hemmed pants for her children, grandchildren, friends and neighbors. She loved to crochet and did so often until her arthritis made it too difficult. She crocheted infant bracelets in her final weeks for her newest great granddaughter. Terezinha lived the gospel of Jesus Christ and many friends, neighbors and family were introduced to the gospel though her example. She regularly shared her simple testimony about how the gospel made her happy. She loved to read the scriptures or listen to hymns each night. She was loved by many and leaves us yearning for the day that we will be together again. Survived by: her children; Antonio Carlos, Joao Pessoa, Brazil, Francisco de Assis, (Greice Melo), Sao Goncalo, Brazil, Rui Ramos, South Jordan, Utah and Santina Andrade Smith (David), South Jordan, Utah. Grandchildren; Carla Andrade, Tulio Andrade, Rodrigo Andrade, Ana Luisa Andrade, Magna Buhler (Cody), Tania Lish, Leana Hansen (Todd), Amanda Gally (Cody), Nathan Smith and Isabella Smith. Great grandchildren; Evalynn, Aviendha, Kaladin, Lincoln, Sammy, Jace and Georgie. Preceded in death by: Her parents; Levino Batista de Moura and Ana Maria da Conceicao, her 12 siblings, her husband Antonio Domingos Andrade, her daughter Maria Auxiliadora Lish and her granddaughter Sabrina Smith. Funeral services will be held at the South Jordan Highland Stake center at 10200 South 4000 West on Saturday January 18, 2020. Viewing will begin at 9 am followed by a funeral service at 11 am. Ela nasceu no dia 5 de fevereiro de 1935 em Pombal, PB; filha de Levino Batista de Moura e Maria Ana da Conceição. Casou-se em Pombal com Antônio Domingos Andrade no dia 20 de setembro de 1953. Filha mais jovem de 13 irmãos. Seu pai foi um homem de boas condições para a região, ela dizia que teve uma infância privilegiada, considerando-se a pobreza em volta dela, prevalente no Nordeste. Ela gostava de se lembrar dos passeios a cavalo quando morava na fazenda de seu pai. Ela foi a única dos treze irmãos a estudar na cidade, morou com seu padrinho e madrinha, para poder frequentar a escola. Seu pai não aceitou o casamento com Antônio Domingos Andrade. Com 18 anos eles fugiram para se casar. Os filhos vieram logo em seguida. Um ano depois nasceu Antônio Carlos, Auxiliadora nasceu dois anos mais tarde. Nasceram três outros filhos, Francisco de Assis, Rui Ramos e finalmente Santina, completando um total de cinco filhos. A vida em Pombal era difícil, em 1968, depois do nascimento da filha mais jovem, a família se mudou para o Estado do Rio de Janeiro, se estabelecendo no município de São Gonçalo. Foi aí que a família conheceu A Igreja de Jesus Cristo dos Santos dos Últimos Dias (Mórmon) . Depois de se tornarem membros, Antônio e Terezinha fizeram o casamento para o tempo e a eternidade no Templo da Igreja. Terezinha testemunhou três dos seus filhos servirem como missionários. Ela permaneceu um membro fiel da Igreja durante o resto da vida. Terezinha era uma costureira muito talentosa, podia fazer um vestido simplesmente olhando uma foto numa revista. Fazia alterações em vestidos de festa de formatura, vestido de noiva, fazia bainhas e consertava as calças para seus filhos, netos, amigos e vizinhos. Adorava crochet e estava sempre fazendo alguma peça, o fazia muito até que a artrite fez a tarefa ficar muito difícil. Ela fez pulseiras para bebê nos seus dias finais para a sua mais nova bisneta. Terezinha vivia o evangelho, muitos amigos, vizinhos e familiares foram apresentados ao evangelho através do seu exemplo. Ela compartilhava regularmente seu simples testemunho de como o evangelho a fazia feliz. Adorava ler as escrituras e ouvir hinos toda as noites. Amada por muitos, nos deixa saudades e o desejo de estarmos juntos novamente. Bisnetos: Evalynn, Aviendha, Kaladin, Lincoln, Sammy, Jace and Georgie. Precedeu a sua morte: seus pais, Levino Batista de Moura e Ana Maria da Conceição; seus 12 irmãos; seu marido Antônio Domingos Andrade; sua filha Maria Auxiliadora Lish e sua bisneta Sabrina Smith. Os serviços funerários terão lugar no centro da Estaca de South Jordan Highland, no endereço: 10200 South 4000 West, sábado, dia 18 de janeiro de 2020. O velório começará às nove da manhã, seguido pela cerimônia funerária às onze da manhã.
