Viola McGee

Viola McGee transitioned at home on July 22, 2022, peacefully surrounded by her close family and loved ones. Viola will be dearly missed by all who knew her. She had a heart of gold, full of unconditional love and generosity. Viola was always warm, welcoming, fun to be around, and very easy to approach and talk to. She sincerely wanted the best for everyone and wholeheartedly supported others' aspirations to live happy and fulfilling lives. Her heart and passion were evident in her work in health & wellness, where she wanted nothing more than to share her knowledge and abundance with those around her. Viola was born on April 24th, 1956, in Hillsdale, Michigan, and was raised in Albion, Michigan, for most of her childhood. The daughter of Juan and Arminda Lerma, and sister to twelve siblings, she was the centerpiece of her family. Viola will be remembered as a loving daughter, sister, aunt and mother. She was consistently there for others to lean on, converse with, and find sound advice to move through life’s difficult challenges. Viola had a positive outlook on life and would always remind loved ones, “One-day-at-a-time. Don’t stress about the things you can't change or control. Help others when you can; don't expect anything in return. Finally, ask for help when you need it; we are all in this life together.” Viola was an adventurous woman who loved trying different food, traveling, hiking in the mountains, experiencing farmers' markets or festivals, and networking for business or pleasure. Motown was her favorite music genre; Celine Deon was her favorite artist. Viola was always ready to dance given the opportunity and encouraged others to join in the fun with her. An annual goal of Viola’s was to make a trip to Michigan to spend time with family enjoying backyard BBQs, late-night card games, and Mexican train with her mother, Arminda. Family always came first for Viola, and she is survived by her three beautiful, well-rounded, and empathetic children - Johnny, Daniel, and Anna McGee. They will greatly miss their adored and cherished mother but will continue to stay strong, living every day in her memory as she would have wanted. Viola’s family invites you to join them for a celebration of her life and memorial service at Saint John's Parish, located at 1020 Irwin Ave, Albion, MI 49224, on August 22, 2022. The service will begin at 11 AM. All that knew Viola are welcome. Rather than sending flowers, the family is asking for donations to go towards the funeral and celebration of life costs.
