Amberlee Ann Faulkner Nelson

Amberlee Ann Faulkner Nelson was a beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She passed away on February 21, 2022, in Murray, Utah from health complications related to the novel coronavirus at the age of 43. Amber was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on August 8, 1978, to Carl R. Faulkner and Catherine Ann Smith. Her early childhood was spent in Orem, Utah. Despite being born with hearing problems; Amber had a love for music. As a child she was frequently at the piano playing and rewriting songs to make them her own. She did not let her hearing hold her back, most people never knew this was a challenge for her. She was an accomplished pianist and freely shared her talent. Her youth was spent in St. George, Utah where she graduated from Dixie High School. After high school, she went on to study sports broadcasting at Dixie College. She was an avid sports fan and enjoyed cheering on her favorite team, the BYU Cougars. Her faith in Jesus Christ and membership in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was a central part of her life. It was there that she met her husband and sweetheart, Matthew Jay Nelson. Their courtship was a mixture of church service, dancing and gathering with friends. This set a pattern that continued throughout their marriage. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple on October 15, 1999. She loved her family and supported them in all their activities, whether it was an Ironman, academic endeavor or following her husband on a hairbrained trip across the globe. Her outgoing, confident personality gave her the ability to talk to anyone. She knew no strangers; everyone was a friend. This served her well professionally. She worked in office administration, logistics and alongside her husband in their joint business venture. She didn’t rate success by position. One of her favorite jobs was a school crossing guard. She loved the children and the community she served. Service came natural to Amber. She lived by the moto “See a Need Fill a Need”. She served in the young women’s, primary and relief society organizations. She lived to serve her family and friends and taught her children to do the same. She is survived by her husband, Matthew; their children, (Matthew) Coit, Kijah, and (Riley Jay) RJ; her mother, Catherine S. Faulkner; her siblings, Joshua K. (Michelle) Faulkner, Jared (Kathy) Faulkner, Jennie (Preston) Minor, Justin (Brianne) Faulkner, and Katie (Brock) Southwick; her in-laws, nieces, and nephews. Amber was preceded in death by her father, Carl R. Faulkner and her sister Ashley Ann Faulkner. While Amber was ill her family was blessed to be surrounded and supported by family, friends, community, and medical staff. They express their deep love and gratitude to everyone who carried them through this difficult time. Friends and family may come and honor this remarkable woman at a viewing held on Friday, February 25 from 6 to 8 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 3113 West 13400 South in Riverton, Utah. The funeral will be held on Saturday, February 26 at 10 a.m. at the same location. A short viewing will be held prior to the services from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Interment will be at the Lehi City Cemetery located at 1100 North 400 East in Lehi, Utah. The family has asked that all flower deliveries be made to the church listed above on Friday, February 25.
