March 31, 1963 - March 23, 2015
Blake LaRoque was an amazing Dad and a wonderful husband who passed away on Monday March 23rd, 2015. Blake lived a life filled with fun and laughter. Unfortunately his life’s journey ended much too soon. He passed away a week before his 52nd birthday. But sometimes starting a new journey in the next life is a blessing. Two and a half years ago Blake suffered a debilitating stroke and was no longer able to do the things he loved and enjoyed. Blake loved the outdoors, camping, boating, hunting, fishing & hockey. He was always planning and looking forward to the next fun family adventure. He was dedicated to and loved being with his wife and kids. We were fortunate to be able to travel together often. Many road trips for travel hockey will also be fondly remembered. You always knew where you stood with Blake. He wouldn’t ride the fence, he took a side and stayed on it and taught his kids to do the same. He was committed, passionate, and whatever he undertook he gave it his all.. The dedication and compassion he had for his family and friends was unwavering. Blake worked in several different industries throughout his career, including owning his own window cleaning business ‘What a Pane’ but his true love was working with machines and “pushin dirt”. He worked as a foreman with Harper Excavating and enjoyed working on several large projects including his favorite The Larry Miller Motor Sports Park. He was employed with Kilgore Companies when his stroke occurred and his career abruptly ended. The unending outpouring of support from family and friends made it possible for Blake’s wife and kids to care for him at home. He did the best he was capable of to improve with therapies but his condition slowly declined. His substantial deficits left him compromised and weak. He passed with his family lovingly surrounding him. The overwhelming heartbreak of our loss is overshadowed by thecomfort in knowing that he no longer suffers in pain nor is he wheelchair bound. Blake, you have fought a long and valiant battle and you deserve to be on a boat fishing in the most beautiful lake the lord can provide. You’re free at last. Blake is survived by his wife Nancy (Hale), his children Max (Cailey), Teal and Tessa. Two Grandchildren Damien and Hadley. Mother Dee Lynn Andrews, Father Wallace Andrews, Brothers Ivan Jeff Andrews and Shaun Wally Andrews. We’d like to express our deepest appreciation to the wonderful Special Care Professionals that played such an essential role in Blake’s care. To Blake’s dedicated support group for being his lifeline, we consider you family. And a special thanks to MassMutual Intermountain West, Nancy’s employer and co-workers, for their love, assistance and support. Please join us in honoring Blake and celebrating his life this Saturday March 28th, 11:00 at the LDS meeting house located at 87 East 7100 South in Midvale, UT. Refreshments, an open invitation to share your memories of Blake, and time to visit with family and friends will immediately follow in the cultural hall.
