Bruce Eugene Brown 1951-2023. Bruce Eugene Brown, or “The Cookie Man” as he was affectionately called was bested after a long playoff series with his body. Bruce’s Iron Will – 0, Mortal Body – 1. Bruce, ever the convincing salesman, persuaded his body to allow him to witness 4 more super bowls, 4 more world series, and the PGA vs LIV golf drama beyond medically predicted expectations, much to his ESPN addictive delight. Bruce passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 24, 2023 at 3:45 pm at the age of 71 in the exquisite care of Heritage Gardens Assisted Living after a long battle with his health (complications from strokes). Bruce popped on the scene on an early spring day, March 1, 1951 in St David, Arizona to Dale and Olive Brown. He was the third of 4 sports playing boys. It didn’t matter what season it was, Bruce and his brothers were ready to play. He met Debra Christensen in 1967 and married her in the Mesa, Arizona temple as soon as he could, 5 days after returning from serving in the Mexico, Hermosillo mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Bruce found joy in sports (Umpire), food (party anyone?) brought him much joy in this life. Food brought his favorite people together. As The Cookie Man would say, “Nothing a tub of popcorn and some amateur softball couldn’t cure.” But nothing surpassed Bruce’s love of people and he showed that love in every aspect of his life. Professionally he schmoozed folks into buying everything from Coca-cola and life insurance to paper and promotional products. Personally, he taught youth and prepared missionaries. He opened his home and fed friends and non-friends alike. He taught his children to work and show love through service. Still Donning Jersey’s for the Brown Team /Those left behind holding their tacos of love are: ex-wife Debra Christensen Brown, Sam (Lisa) Brown, Monica Brown, Rebecca (Juan) Stromsdorfer, Sandra (James) Hirst, Melanie (Jared) Olson, Robert (Anja) Brown, Jeff (Johannah) Brown, 25 grandchildren who he always said, “were his pride and joy” and 2 great grandchildren; Siblings Robert Brown, Tom Brown, and Spencer Brown. Bruce is preceded in death by his parents. The meat, chips, and salsa will be served with the famous cookies and brownies and can be partaken on Tuesday January 31, 2023 following services at 10:00 am at the Kaysville East Stake Center located at 201 S 600 E, Kaysville, Utah.
