Cosme Ramos Mendez

Cosme Ramos Mendez came into this world January 07 1929, born to Manuela R. Mendez and Martin S. Mendez. He left peacefully where he resided at his son Caesars home with his wife and son’s family by his side on November 02, 2022. He is survived by his loving wife of 21 years Miriam R. Mendez, their children; Claudia Valles Martinez, Miriam Martinez (Juan Carlos), Caesar Martinez (Carmelita), Jessie Palma (Micaela). Grandchildren; Manuel Gonzalez (Lisa), Caesar Sanchez (Judith), Jonathan Martinez (Maria), Danny Martinez, Hannia Martinez, Zahira Martinez, Leslie Parra (Eric), Chantal Parra (Ivan), Tirzo Parra, Bennie Martinez (Tommy), Larenz Martinez, Jacob Martinez, and many great grandchildren he loved deeply. He is also survived by his children from a prior marriage to Harmenia; Arnie Mendez (Tracy), Baldimir Mendez (Sheila) and grandchildren; Justin Meadows, Angelica Mendez, James Mendez. Special mention his niece Cindy Hansen (Glain) who also loved him dearly. Cosme was strong in his LDS faith. Cosme served in many branches of the US Military beginning at the tender age of 16. He fibbed his way in and by the time they found out he was 18 and out of the country at war! After serving in the Navy, Air Force, and National Guard, he eventually found his true calling within the US Army where he served many years, retiring in 1984. Cosme touched and changed many lives for the better in his 93 years. He loved with his whole heart, and everyone felt it. He was the strongest, gentlest, kindest, wisest, man – a true gentleman always insisting to hold the door open for any woman and making sure they were always walking ahead of him. He had unspoken work ethic and was a family man. There are not enough good words to allow others to know what a great man he was – he changed the world for the better in his personal and professional life. I wanted to mention here all his tours, achievements, ranks and metals but he did not do that in life and so we will not do that in death. He loved going out to eat – please go light on the potatoes! Any time you asked him how he was, he would tell you he was as terrible as ever, well because that of course left room for improvement. We will forever miss leaving cookies out for you to eat! We know you are sitting in the sunshine taking a nap, with Pepper by your side. Please join us to pay respects at the chapel locate in the Utah Veterans Cemetery & Memorial Park 17111 South Camp Williams Road Bluffdale, Utah 84065 on December 05, 2022, 1:00 pm to 2:00pm. Lunch will be catered for close family and friends by Manual and Lisa Gonzalez – location TBD.
