Ethel Darlene Lund Pendleton returned to her Father in Heaven while she was at home on Wednesday, February 10, 2021. Darlene was born December 21, 1929, in Modena, Utah, to Thomas and Ethel Lund. She was raised in a loving home where she learned to work, play, and serve God and others. She attended Enterprise and Cedar High Schools, BAC in Cedar City for one year and then graduated from BYU in Provo, Utah, where she met Alton while majoring in Business after graduation from BYU. Darlene married Alton Decker Pendleton on June 29, 1951 and they lived in Parowan, Utah, for the majority of their married lives and later moved to Taylorsville, Utah. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many positions in the different organizations of The Church including Primary, Young Women, and Relief Society. She worked in the Jordan River Temple for over 19 years until it was closed for remodeling. She was also very active in supporting her children in school through the PTA and attending every activity they participated in (sports, music, drama, etc.) Darlene enjoyed music and had a beautiful soprano voice. She loved sports of all kinds, especially if BYU was playing. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and spent many hours of quality time with them. Darlene and Alton have 6 children, 5 of which live in Utah, Alene (Brent) Whittekiend of Cedar City, Bonita Nielsen of South Jordan, Craig (Jill) Pendleton of Stansbury Park, Denise (Terry) Finn of Riverton, and Monica (Steve) Paul of Taylorsville, and Karen (Terry) Warren of Smyrna, TN. Darlene is preceded in death by her husband, Alton; her parents, brothers Hal, Lamar, and Blaine Lund, and her sister Rose Elise Gurr; Nolan Nielsen, a son-in-law, and 2 grandsons. She is survived by all of her children, 17 grandchildren, and 27 (soon to be 28) great-grandchildren. She will be missed by all who knew her. We love you, Mom! A viewing will be held at the Riverview Ward located at 4845 Woodhaven Drive in Taylorsville, Utah on Sunday, February 14, 2021 from 6 to 8 PM. Another viewing will be held at the same location on Monday, February 15 from 10:00 to 10:45 AM followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM. A graveside service will be held the following day on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at 12:00 Noon at the Parowan City Cemetery located in Parowan, Utah.
