July 30, 1955 - April 10, 2015
Our sweet Mother, Grandmother, Sister and confidant has passed away from our presence … Deborah Anne Galke, Born July 30th of 1955 and she passed away quietly surrounded by her family at the LDS hospital on April 10th 2015. Deborah was a delightful and mischievous young girl … she never liked to be left behind, and so as a result, most mornings, she would sneak out of the house to follow me to school. More often than not, I would stop at our piano teachers home to call mother to come and get her … there she was in her pajamas going to school with her older sister and brother … very disappointed that she was not yet old enough to attend school. Deb would joyfully wait for mother and was allowed to stay and play the piano. As the school year progressed, Debbie increased in her skills to hide a little better on the way to Hawthorne and would get as far as the Dance teacher house. This really delighted Debbie because if she didn’t get her free piano lesson, now she could dance instead. As a result of the music lessons that were on-going as we grew up, Deborah really learned enjoyed music and dance. She loved gardening, cooking (best cook in town next to her sons) and she enjoyed her hobbies with wood work and creating gifts for others with her carpentry. Deborah cared for all of her children in her own special way, often on her own as their father traveled with his work; she always set that example and guided them to do good things for others and everyone was welcome to come to her home for dinner and could count on a good meal. Her grandchildren adore her and will miss her greatly, she was their second mother always. When her health got poor enough that she rarely left the house and was unable to get out to help others or to grow her garden … she still continued caring for them. And in our phone conversations, she always reported to me her list of people she prayed for or had put names on the Temple Prayer Roll. Deborah never quit trying to cheer others up with her phone calls, being a good listener, supporting her friends and offering her prayers on behalf of those needing them most. Deborah will always be missed here … and even though she has gone on ahead, her memory will remain strong in our hearts ! Deborah was preceeded in death by her beautiful daughter, Melissa Galke; her husband and father of her children, Uli Hans Galke; her brothers Thomas Hampshire and Stuart Hampshire; her parents, Charles Hampshire and Barbara … grandparents and several other family members who will joyfully meet her on the other side. Deborah’s Viewing will be at 10:00 am followed by the Funeral at 11:00 am and will be held Monday, April 20th at the LDS Church 29th Ward located on 500 North and 1100 West; followed by ceremony at Larkins Sunset Lawns at 2350 E. 1300 S. SLC Utah.
