Donald Gary Stark

On January 22, 2016 Donald “Gary” Stark returned home to his creator. Gary was born to Don and Marlene Stark on January 8, 1957. He married his sweetheart Sandy Oveson (aka Slammin’ Sammy) on June 24, 1978 and together had two amazing sons. Later they gained an awesome daughter-in-law and two adorable grandchildren who were the light of his life! In 1980 he started his career at Amoco, where he was known as “Don.” Over the 35 years that followed, the refinery in Salt Lake City became BP Amoco, BP and finally Tesoro. Although the name of the company changed, the love he had for his job, his incredible work ethic and devotion to the refinery never wavered. Don was not only a model employee, but also an amazing leader who held true to the term, “lead by example,” and always made sure that any decision he made would leave a better place for the next generation of employees. However, these qualities were not unique to only his career, he applied them to all aspects of his life. Gary was the kind of man that you could call when you needed help with anything. Not only would he show up to help, but he would happily jump in to fix the problem for you. He was the best friend anyone could ask for. He was a very humble man who devoted his life to family, helping others and different charitable organizations, without ever asking for any recognition in return. The most recent was the Ladies of Charity Center of Hope, which is an organization that provides necessities for the less fortunate. As an organ donor, even in passing he wanted to help others in any way he could. Gary was preceded in death by his father, brother and two nephews. He is survived by his wife Sandy two sons Mike (wife Tara “Pinsky”) and Kevin. His two grandchildren, his Mother Marlene, Sister Debbi and Brother Danny (wife Sheri) and many nieces and nephews. We love you, and will miss you sooooo, so much. May your soul rest in peace. Services will be held January 28, 2016 at St. Olaf’s Catholic Church, Bountiful Utah.
